How am I supposed to setup my cameras?

Post by YodaVader »

NVR4108E + 5 Amcrest IP5M-T1277E-AI Cameras

#1

I set up 2 IVS rules with different schedules in the NVR Webui for CH1

I open the Camera Webui for the camera on CH1 and the schedules are not the same. It has the same 2 IVS rules but those rules don't have the same schedules I set in the NVR Webui

See here rule #2 shown in both Webui's. https://photos.app.goo.gl/HHnJDnWTNBj4Kefn6

#2 Heres what I want to do on CH1. How do I do it?

Rule #1 Something enters or leaves the intrusion area. Record Normally. Day mode at day and IR mode at night. Scheduled for 24 hours every day.

Rule #2 Something enters or leaves the smaller intrusion area. Turn on white light and record (Color Night Vision). Scheduled for 00:00-07:00 and 20:00-24:00.

Here's the Camera settings for the camera on CH1 using the Camera-Webui (Because the NVR-Webui doesn't have these camera settings)

You can see in the profile Managment the schedule for using the day and night profiles.

In the "Day & Night" setting, the settings are the same for general, day, night.

In the "Light Settings" the settings are "IR Mode" for General and Day and "Smart Illumination" for night.

I'm the guy friends and family bring their computer and phone problems too. I'm the geek that knows how all this works and can fix everyones stuff.

This amcrest software is forking gargbage. There's multiple ui's that conflict with each other. I'm getting a migrane just trying to setup a single camera FFS!.

How am I supposed to set this all up, use the NVR and hope cameras do what it says or do I setup each camera and the NVR will do what they say?

OR....

Should I change everything and setup motion detection for the large area that is scheduled for 24/7 and ..

.. use just one rule for IVS for the smaller area that I want to switch on the lights on the 00:00 - 07:00 + 20:00-24:00 schedule?

The NV4108E-A2 has no built-in AI functionality. It may support some of the AI features of your cameras, but is not guaranteed to support any. Its firmware is no younger than Sept. 2022, whereas the firmware on your IP5M-T1277E-AI is no older than June 2023. Your choices are either to configure your cameras individually or upgrade to an AI-capable NVR. If you configure your cameras individually, I wouldn't trust the NVR to record all the events you have configured, so would make sure each has an SD card.

On the other hand, if you are happy with the AI configuration options accessible through the NV4108E-A2, use them. The cameras will follow.

Copy Pasted from the Amcrest website :(

SUPPORTS AI FEATURES FROM AI IP CAMERAS
- AI features available depend on the camera model being used. Only Supports 2CH AI Cameras at 4K@30fps. No built-in AI Features on NVR. Connects to and manages all the POE IP cameras on your network directly through their ethernet cables for ultimate ease and convenience in a home security system

The NVR shows me settings for everything but the "Smart Illumintion" setting. I have to get into the camera direct for that. If I can get them working right it's nice. If someone steps into the "intrusion zone" Both the street facing cameras will turn on the white led light and record in full color as well as act as a deterrent when people see the yard light up.

Right: No built-in AI Features on NVR. According to the owner's manual, the NV4108-A2 supports Face Detection, IVS, People Counting, Heat Map, and Smart Motion Detection (if implemented by the camera).

Ok sorry that thing might seem confusing, first what you see for Scheduling in camera is in fact different then what you see in the NVR, that is because NVR don't control the built in recorder of the camera, now yes enable motion in camera it enables for you nvr as well, other way as well, this means you can have MicroSD installed and record differently from how the NVR is scheduled. Let me get home and I will answer the rest. Was out for dinner after Dr Appt, so about 10 min before I get home.

Ok about your zones you are kind of asking for some headache.. First really want Cross or Appear not both. Also depending on how busy the scene you don't want to have both directions when you are working with a Intrusion zone. That means everything gets recorded two times in the same event time...

next your zones are kind of to large. Cross may not work well if it don't have a leading time before it gets into the box. So in truth I would use different rules for different areas. Like Intrusion for your driveway and a couple of Tripwires in the street. Then intrusion zone from the street to the front door area at the yard to the driveway. Then you can choose different types of Filters for different things and only be alerted when it is important. Like Intrusion from the Road to the house because someone pulling up to the curb pick Human filter in that zone going to the house and part of the yard to the drive. Again cars shouldn't be there anyway... In the drive way Enter Vehicle. Remember everything around that rule will have humans so they have to get to the area where the vehicle is so Drive way Vehicle, Then if someone gets out enters the area going to the house again that was setup for humans so event will happen..

If you wanted to setup motion, i would make sure that you have a camera that supports SMD and it is enabled. Also make sure that the system lets you pick events for SMD not just enable it and use data from Motions as some others are setup for.. Because if you setup SMD it works with Motion so if you wanted emails and it was not in the SMD menu only offering was filter and enable of SMD then you will get emails for all motion events, So then another thing some people don't get is when you would search for events AI SMD and search that way pick if you wanted human or vehicle to weed out what you area not wanting to see at that time.. If both then both but if you were to go to the normal search and pick that camera it would show all motion for that channel there is an area that you can pick the filter but some over look that. Plus it is easier to just go the AI menu.. Personally I disable motion for my AI cameras normally and only deal with AI events.. I live in windy, rain, snow, buggy and Humid area so if IR or White leds on at night with motion I would have a full night of motion alerts and events lol.. So best to use AI for me..

Now about your Scheduling for Day/Night, Personally I wouldn't setup that way. I would leave it as it was defaulted Day full time and let the auto turn on your IR or White LEds.. The way you have it setup is normally designed for someone that needs to make detailed changes to the cameras settings at different times. Then setting up for schedule and not making changes to both day and night settings can make things not work so well. Also because of the time changes for seasons your camera times would need to be adjusted a few times a year to make up for being dark at 4pm and not 9pm. Then being light at 530am to being light well after that.. If you make changes to the camera settings to capture plates or some other reason that requires fine tuning if times are not changed in time you could have a blown out picture for a couple of hours..

IN your IVS picture you show that you have setup your camera to be FLICKER, The Schedule you are talking about in your picture is for Day night not when you want or don't want the light to come on.. In that picture of your IVS where you have FLICKER for Light if you click that Full on might be option like in my camera.. Then it has how long you will want to setup that time for at least as long as your event setup time so 30sec maybe if setup to 10 it will turn on and then off just as it switches over to color at night and you won't even get B/W event recording because it is going between each mode.. Then the Period below that is where you control the time for your LIGHT to be or not to be active...

I'm starting to get a handle on it, thanks for the help.

Cross or Appear not both - Ok, makes sense, I set that.

The flicker or normally on seems to overriden by the "smart illumination". The light is coming on and the camera switching to color when I enter the smaller intrusion zones I set up for 00:00-07:00 and 20:00-23:50:59.

The cameras where also recording in NV when cars passed by, entering the larger intrusion zone.

Next problem, system is not pre recording. When cars drive by the recording starts too late and I might see the tail lights as they leave the cameras view in the recording.

I want to record everything that moves in front of the cameras 24/7/365. Day mode and ir night mode.

I also want to record, in color night vision, anything that moves inside the set intrusions zones.

New big forking problem. I rebooted the NVR and none of the cameras will come back online :(

Figured out the NVR forgets the "AI" Camera passwords when rebooted. So now back to trying to get the system to pre-record.
