HDCVI remote access

Post by greg »

Having trouble setting up upnp on Arristg1682g modem. I change the http port to a 5 digit number then click the ddns menu and there isn't a ddns type called quickddns just amcrest ddns with a server ip as www.amcrestddns.com which doesn't exist. Also I clicked the upnp menu and it's stuck on searching no matter if you leave that screen and come back, and there aren't any check marks next to the corresponding service names to uncheck the last four boxes. It's almost as if these directions are for a different dvr made years ago. Will return and write disappointed review on amazon if this can't be resolved. I checked my router and have upnp enabled with an advertisement period of 30 min and time to live 5 hops, and zero config is enabled. Please help get this remote access working.

Hi Greg,
Sorry for the delayed response. Under domain name you will have a domain that ends with amcrestddns.com. Enable that and you can use this ddns once you set up port forwarding. If the UPNP is failing, we would recommend you try the manual port forwarding. In the Arris router, you need to go to the option , Virtual server to set this up. Also, make sure the firewall is 'enabled, in the router without which the port forwarding settings might not work. Once the port forwarding is done, go to www.canyouseeme.org to check if the ports are open. Please feel free to contact our support by phone or email if you need further help.

In the ddns tab there are 5 choices for ddns type, none of which is quick ddns, and the only choice with a domain name is amcrest ddns, the domain name Is generic testhostname.amcrestddns.com please help what next? UPNP didn't work, I've completed the port forwarding and I can see that the port is open on www.canyouseeme.org. Now what’s the next step? I enabled ddns and installed the firmware update.

Same problem. Our unit arrived today.

There is no quickddns option.

Only testhostname.amcrestddns.com

This url option appears to not work. We are in need of a solution.
Thanks

Hello,
Use the Amcrestddns, make sure its enabled. Change the testhostname.amcrestddns.com to a custom domain name of your choice. Save it and then try to use the ddns.

Do you need to register with a DNS service to use amcrestddns? I cannot get mine to work. When attempting to access I get the following message.

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because xxx.amcrestddns.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.

Hello eichmr,
You need to enable the amcrestddns under network settings. You should also set up port forwarding before you can start using the ddns.Check the below video tutorial to find more about port forwarding set up.

I have the same issue. What exactly needs to be in each of the field in the "AMCREST DDNS" choice?
Server IP is shown as "www.amcrestddns.com" Do I need to change this?
Domain Name is shown as "testhostname.amcrestddns.com" You said to change it to a custom domain. Do you mean something like "abcd.amcrestddns.com" or something else.
User name and password are blank.

What else do I need to do to get this to work?
Thank you for your help.

UPDATE:
It now works! I left the server IP as "www.amcrestddns.com"
I changed the domain as I stated above as" something.amcrestddns.com"
I then set up port forwarding per the video and it works!!
