Galaxy S23 ultra on Verizon
This stopped working about a week ago.
I just tried amcrest view pro 2, but the app doesn't seem to have the settings to control notifications. Slicker app but doesn't seem to have parity to original.
Push notifications are still not working on ViewPro and ViewPro2 is not a solution either. Motion detection notifications sent to ViewPro App on both our Android phones was working great until sometime in early September they stopped coming in completely.
Did you guys at Amcrest make a modification to the app on play-store that was sent out in early Sept if so can you please reverse that recent update around Sept 1st to ViewPro. If you did not make an update I suspect it might be Google Playstore that was rumored to be tightening down on apps and possibly they thought this App was giving out too many notifications so they restricted it's ability to notify??. Or
I have tried ViewPro2 and this is what I found older cameras do not work with newer App. And original view pro gets zero alerts. I like they layout of original ViewPro and the way notifications take you directly to the most recent alert first. The New View Pro 2 always plays an old deleted motion alert from days before that has already been deleted from the event list, before even trying to find the real most recent alert.
I have an NVR, NV4108-HS. with earlier FW I just updated and did not solve issue, In ViewPro2 app I can add my NVR, NV4108-HS and see all the cameras. Set it to send push alerts etc. ViewPro2 does receive motion detect push notifications from 2 cameras, Ash21-W and IP5M-B1186EW. ViewPro2 gets zero alerts from other 4 cameras even though it can see their video fine. (2) IP2M-851E and (2) IP2M-852E recieve zero alerts at ViewPro2.
So I unplugged the NVR and all alerts stopped so the 2 cams where notifications are recieved by ViewPro2 are definitely sending them through the NV4108-HS. I then tried to scan serial number for cameras individually to add them into the ViewPro2 app bypassing the NV4108-HS and this is very interesting, it will not allow it with the older cameras. I can not scan QR because they are all mounted out of reach, So I entered 3 of the serials manually for 3 of my older POE cameras into the viewPro2 App and they all reported Failed to connect or some other error message. So apparently ViewPro2 does not support older cameras and they will not even connect individually to it. I then confirmed by manually typing in the serial Number for 1 newer camera and the IP5M-B1186 and it connected and worked right away in ViewPro2 app.
All of the cameras and the NV4108-HS are updated to the latest FW available on Amcrest DL site. Which I think is V2.420.AC01.3.R from 06/02/18.
There are a bunch of other people that have left a low review about this push notification problem in the comments on G Playstore. Click see all reviews - then see all comments - and sort by most recent to see what I mean. I have not left any comment there however I believe most still have this problem. A few people said ViewPro2 solved the problem for them they probably have all newer cameras if it did sole it for them.
Well hopefully this info can help you at Amcrest figure out what is causing certain people to not be receiving their push notifications. My suggestion would be undo any changes to the original View Pro that were made in late Aug or Early Sept 2024 (if any) and keep that App on the PlayStore for those like myself with older Amcrest POE cameras. That is of course if we can figure out why push notifications suddenly stopped in Early Sept.
I also noticed Playstore that the original ViewPro download in Playstore right under pictures of the App where it says "about this app" There is a little right arrow, when pushing the right arrow it shows more details and earlier tonight it said app was Version 4.2.060 Build Date 2023-08-01 and our 1 phone that still has original ViewPro installed showed that app to be the same 4.2.060 Build Date 2023-08-01 receiving zero notifications. Even though in the description there it said it was update on Feb 12, 2024, I just checked in Playstore again before submitting this comment and now when clicking the right arrow for more details it says Version 4.2.060 Updated on Feb 12, 2024 Just like it says below the description. Possibly someone just fixed, or something at Playstore was restored from a backup? so I will try to download ViewPro again and see if anything has been fixed.
Anyone else have any ideas or comments or same problems can share it here would like to get this fixed soon.
Thanks,
Push notifications are still not working on ViewPro and ViewPro2 is not a solution either.
Just wanted to update last paragraph above, I re-installed original ViewPro app and notification alerts are still not working. The build build and update dates are different when viewing Google Playstore from a Windows Desktop than it is when viewing Google Playstore from an Android Phone.
Google Playstore from a Windows Desktop clicking arrow for 'more details' on Viewpro app shows build build and update dates Jun 20, 2024.
Android Phone view of Playstore 'more details' on Viewpro app says build build and update dates says Updated Aug 1 2023.
Just re-installed the ViewPro App and in Help - About, it shows Version 4.2.060 Build Date 20230801.
So after installing it is not showing that any kind of Jun 20, 2024 update is ever happening further confusing because they all say Version 4.2.060
Anyhow just letting you know it did not help, notifications are still not working on ViewPro and ViewPro2
Hi Revo2Maxx, and any others out there
Yes, I was saying that AVP2 is "not" receiving any motion push alert notifications from 4 of my older Amcrest POE cameras that were all working fine in August with the original AVP.
ViewPro2 will only receives motion detect push notifications from the 2 newer cameras that are 2 or 3 years old, Ash21-W and IP5M-B1186EW.
The Ash-21 is the only one that is not POE although I do have it hooked up through the Ethernet connection.
In ViewPro2 app I can successfully add my device, the NV4108-HS and see all 7 Amcrest cameras on the ViewPro2 app. I can set ViewPro2 to send push alerts for all 6 Amcretst cameras.
but do not recieve alerts
ViewPro2 does not receive any alerts from the 4 older Amcrest POE cameras even though it can see their video fine. Two IP2M-851E and Two IP2M-852E those last 4 POE cameras received zero alerts in ViewPro2.
But all the Amcrest cameras do receive motion notifications on the Amcrest Surveillance Pro desktop software for windows.
all cameras are hooked up to Ethernet with assigned static ip adresses, I have the Amcrest NV4108-HS NVR that I plug into a separate POE switch. I updated the firmware on the Amcrest NV4108-HS to see if that helped geting notifications from the 4 older POE cams to AVP2 it did not fix problem.
I confirmed that the 2 newer Ash21-W and IP5M-B1186EW cameras are sending the motion alert through the NV4108-HS by unplugging it.
The alert from those 2 cameras stopped even though they are plugged into the router and internet still.
So I then wondered about bypassing the NV4108-HS NVR To see if older POE cameras could send alert directly to the AVP2 app that it could receive.
With NV4108-HS unplugged, I then tried to scan serial number for the older Amcrest POE cameras individually to add them into the ViewPro2 app bypassing the NV4108-HS and ViewPro2 will not allow to add the older Amcrest POE cameras as a new device in the ViewPro2 add device setup. I can not scan QR because they are all mounted out of reach, So one by one I entered the serials numbers manually into ViewPro2 for 3 of my older POE cameras into the viewPro2 App and it appeared they took password ok however when trying establish connection those older POE cameras they all showed Failed to connect or other error message and will not connect when tried individually.
NV4108-HS - updated with firmware from 5/21/20 - V4.000.AC000
IP5M-B1186EW - updated with firmware from 4-08-2023 - V2.820.00AC002
Ash21-W - updated with firmware from 05/20/2022 - V2.680.00AC003.0
Below POE cams fail the add device process into AVP2 app and report Failed to connect when tried individually, but their video can bee seen through a NV4108-HS when the NV4108-HS is the device added to the AVP2 app however then cams below get no motion alerts at the AVP2 app.
IP2M-851E - V2.420.AC01.3.R firmware from 06/02/18 (is the latest available on Amcrest firmware)
IP2M-852E - V2.420.AC01.3.R firmware from 06/02/18 (is the latest available on Amcrest firmware)
The only other real problem I saw with the AVP2 app is the notification on android phone screen takes you to a different camera and plays an old video sometimes from a different camera and from a day or so earlier that I had already deleted the day before after waiting what seems to be a longer time than the old app took to show a recorded motion alert, I think its downloading a whole bunch of videos rather than just the most recent alert, then you go back searching in for the most recent alert that seem to be in a few different folders depending on the camera that took it or date of the alert which is a hassle and takes longer than just going straight to the alert.
I can see the potential benefits if it was all working perfectly to take you straight to the most recent alert, since it can now tell you which camera name the alert came from which is a nice new feature,
Showing an old video first is an old problem that has been fixed many times before in the past usually after a ViewPro version upgrade, the fix should be in the developers notes or knowledge-base there from previous updates on how to fix that as they have fixed that a few times before. I am sure I have commented about showing an old video first in the past comments I have made on this board in the last few years you can look there to see exact date of previous problem of showing an old video first when clicking an alert. Also some people on playstore or this forum have some other useful comments of things to add or fix in AVP2.
Let me know if there is some kind of FW update I can do to the IP2M-851E and the IP2M-852E so they can connect directly. Or to have their notification alerts seen by AVP2 when going through the NV4108-HS NVR.
Thank you
AVP2 does connect to older cameras. I have same type camera as your 851 from amcrest just older then that the 751 version that is 720p version of the 851 that is the 1080P camera same body and type camera board. My 751B camera is connected to the app as a camera alone. I can access it just like all my other cameras that I have connected to AVP2.
Oddly AVP2 has started to work the way you mention after doing some extra adding in SMD and things for some devices where for me before it was working with pulling down from list in my phone click on the event that took place and it would load that event. However after someone else mentioned they were having issue I did something and now mine is also working wrong where it plays an older event, there is a menu below it that you can click and bring up a list of current events to get it to play the event you want so it does work..
main thing I found I didn't like about it was the fact that there was no option to go to live view or images like in the AVP only option is a video so if you are using a camera without a Micro SD card it will just show a no video page but can click on Live View from there to then see what is going on. A few steps that isn't cool in trying to see right away what is going on.
I will also admit that there seems to be an issue where if you add in a few devices it can forget the last device or a few of the last devices you are adding . So what I mean is I add in a IVS device to show Tripwire, then the last camera that I just setup for SMD no longer shows any events even though there was a couple events posted while I was setting up the IVS. To cure this I just go back in and setup the SMD again after I setup IVS. There are some little things that make it messy but all cameras and recorders that I have setup from Amcrest is working just fine.
Also so I am clear, I did setup my 751B using P2P format. Incase someone might think it was because I added it in using IP method.
Question, are all your cameras using the same Password? it might be a password issue. I know there are some !@#$%&*()_+ things that cameras don't like to work with and that might be an issue.
I use AVP2 with an NV4108-HS with five cameras attached, the oldest of which is an IPM-721S I bought in 2017. AVP2 alerts me to events on all of them. Not sure that it matters, but I always add devices using their IP address.
