I am setting up a NVR4116-A2 and a couple of IP2M-841 cameras (wifi connection) and have run into one snag. I'd like to be able to remotely connect to the NVR and monitor the area from another location. I've been able to do that much after setting up a HTTPS connection, port-forwarding the router firewall, DDNS, etc. What I can't figure out is how to download a selected portion of motion triggered recording on the NVR hard drive to my remote location.
When I am logged into the NVR and looking at the Search menu, I am able to view the recorded data indicated by the colored bars, play back video on the screen and see the filenames listing but I don't see the clip and save (scissors and floppydisk) icons in the lower right of the viewing windor as referred to in the manual. How do I get this downloaded to a local file on my computer.??
When I first set this up, I interfaced the NVR4116 directly using a monitor and mouse and then located and enrolled the cameras. Subsequently further setup was done from a computer via the local network connection. What I am wondering is if this configuration doen't give me the same capability as sitting in front of the NVR box. If so, BIG Disappointment. Or, could there be a malfunction in the hardware/firmware. I tried plugging in a USB memory stick on the off chance that maybe it requires one; the memory stick indicator lit up but there was no indication that the NVR even recognized it.
I'm getting the same results using the Edge, Firefox, and Chrome browsers and with Windows 7 and Windows 11 OSes.
I want to be able to occasionally monitor the camera's recorded video and save any anomalies if necessary and do this at a remote location.
If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong or neglecting to do, it would be greatly appreciated.
NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
First Welcome to the forum, while I see you joined years ago this is your first post..
Second, if you are remote to your device I personally wouldn't expose your device to a forwarded internet connection.
Next, what browser are you using? I would use Edge in IE mode only for best results.
Lastly, in the WebUI on the main page should be Live, Playback, Alarm, Operation, Backup and Display. When you know what file you want to save best to do Backup of it. To do a back up note the channel you want, time you want and then you can set the Backup directory. Then it should save on your local computer.

=============================================================
Thank you for your response.
I appreciate your advice regarding having the device open to the Internet. I do have the https access to it set to a high numbered port and it would not be continously connected; only loggin in periodically for short times to check status. At the remote location, all other computers will be turned off; the cameras and NVR will be the only operating devices. So, I am willing to accept the risk of such a setup.
I am using the Edge browser as I had read that it was recommended. I did set up the IE mode but it didn't help anything. I also mentioned the other browsers and OS versions which all acted the same.
Your description of the main page is slightly different than what I see. I am providing more detail on what is happening; hopefull this may be more helpful.
When I log in to the NVR, I see a screen with 6 colored boxes. They are:
Live, Search, AI, Alarm, Maintain, Display; A second page has an Audio selection.
I select the Search option, I then select the date and camera name that I'm interested in from the displays on the right of the screen.
At the bottom of the screen I uncheck the Blue "All" box and only check the Yellow 'Motion' box - since this I what I'm looking for. This allows me to scroll horizontally and play back the recorded segments that I find.
So far, this is fine; now I want to download/save something that I see.
I click the icon at the lower right and this brings up the listing of recorded files and I can select one or more of these and learn their start and stop times and file size. Now this is where things go wrong:
According to the manual, there should be a 'clip' and a 'save' icon below the viewing area - there are none. In the area where the file information is shown, there is a 'GO' box - but this is greyed out. Maybe this is what is supposed to initiate a download but it isn't functional at this time. ??
There doesn't seem to be any further operations possible at this point.
I noticed a few discrepancies between what I am seeing on the display and what's in the user's manual (A2 Network Video Recorder User Manual -- Version 1.0.0) which I downloaded from Amcrest. It's a 2.88 Mbytes PDF file which I though belonged to this item. Can anyone point me to the correct one?
Any further information will surely be welcomed.

So your desktop don't look like any of the 3 that I have below. Also your playback don't look like the one in the picture below?
2nd, 3rd and 4th are from HS models 2nd is from 4108E-HS, then last 2 are 4116E-HS

Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
Desktop most closely resembles first image - (Screenshot 4107) except that there is 'Display' option instead of 'Backup'
Opening 'Search' option results in image somewhat like Screenshot 4110 with some differences:
Upper left title is 'Search' instead of "Playback' I can't find any 'Backup' anywhere.
'Camera Name' instead of 'Cam Name'
'Record' instead of 'Rec'
below viewing window at lower right, there is no little box with clipping icon, numbers box, and save icon.
also viewing controls are different, I only have start, stop, volume control, pushpin & full screen icons. No fast fwd or reverse
--
System Info tab on "Maintain" screen has following info:
Device Model: NV4116-A2
Hardware Version: V1.0
Web Version: V3.2.7.83177
ONVIF Server Version: 20.06(V2.8.1.1207744)
ONVIF Client Version: V2.4.1
System Version: V4.000.00AC002.0.R, Build Date: 2022-09-02
Security Baseline Version: V2.1
Soft Version: 10002
I will try to attach images, not sure if I know how

Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
Can you let me know what Firmware your NVR is working with? It might be an issue with the FW loaded on your NVR and if you are not on the newest I would DL and install the newer fW and see if that corrects your issues.
Be Safe.
Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
firmware info is included in my previous response. NVR is brand new that I purchased a couple weeks ago.
where do you find F/W downloads?
did not see any place in looking at the Amcrest site.

Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
Interesting.. Must have bought it from Amazon? It has the current Firmware and kind of odd that a new bought item would have the current offered firmware with an older FW on the support site. Normally when the devices are built they will have a Build FW and not the last offered FW. IF new and still within the Amazon return. I would see about returning it and buying it off Amcrest website. While it might take little longer to get to you. It will be 100% new unless bought as a Referb..
Here is the site off Amcrest for updates to current and older DVR/NVRs and IP cameras.. https://amcrest.com/firmware

Re: NVR4116 How to save file to external memory?
OK before doing that.. I would infact do a factory reset of the NVR.. It seems that whom ever did an update might not have did a factory reset and the system is pulling in old data.. 2 things. Clear your browser cache and a factory reset.. You can see in the pictures below while my A2 is only an 8ch it does have the same FW and same built data. So NVRs should have same info.. I did a Factory Reset of my NVR to make sure that my NVR wasn't pulling in old data from other FW.. IN my pictures below you can see I have Backup I have the Cut tool in Playback and it is the same FW version as your NVR..
Try a Factory software reset from the GUI or WebUI. Worse case take top off and if it has a reset button. Press hold for 10 seconds, then unplug, while holding reset button and plug power back in after 10 or so seconds you should hear the BEEP and it has reset.. If you don't hear the reset beep let it load and try again this time trying for 15 seconds holding reset, then unplug and still holding button 15 then plug back in and again after 15 or so seconds it should BEEP..
