Adding over 16 cameras to 32ch NVR, not apprearing

Post by tferrari »

Hi have amcrest 32ch NVR. The 1st 16 cameras are a mixture of about 10 plugged into 10 of the 16 ports on the rear. The others are in two different PPPOE network switches

The 1st 16 work fine. Apart from one which I will mention in a sepaarte thread.

I added 8 more cameras today and none of them appear in my NVR. All 8 of them are plugged into network switches like some of the others.

All 8 of them show in my router but none in my NVR

Is there a trick to add cameras 17-32 in the NVR. The display will show the camera numbers but they are empty. When I search for new cameras, none appear.

TIA

Cameras need to be in same Network range as your NVR..

I have an older 5232E-16P that does work in this way. Cameras connected to the POE port of the NVR by default using the NVRs Switch that is 10.1.1.xx and normally start at 10.1.1.65 and go up. So first 16 can connect this way. Next 16 would connect using your normal network range like in my case 10.0.0.xxx and if you have the 52xx series then there is Bridge mode and this will combine the 16 ports on the NVR to work with only your router as the server for DCHP and if that is enabled you can connect anything to the ports and it will just act like a normal POE switch and power even non Ip camera items.

Normally it is best for most users to just leave it in normal POE NVR mode and let the NVR run the 16 ports and then bring in the last 16 using the normal ethernet port for the NVR..

Can also just bring in all 32ch over the single Ethernet port of the NVR like a regular NVR but then why pay extra for POE ports if they were not going to be used.
Be Safe.

I think my ethernet port is connected to the router and the cameras (past the 16 ports) all connect to the router, is that not correct?

thanks

Yes Ethernet port of NVR connects to Switch/Router/Hub and the other 16 cameras connect to same area. Then the router gives out IP addresses to your NVR and the cameras on the same range So as you can see in the picture below on my 4116E-HS NVR that has 8 ports POE and total 16ch. Ch8 is connected as POE in the picture and the rest are connected over my local network. Some are mix of Wifi and POE cameras alike. I do have a couple of POE Switches and normal switch along with multi router setup in my network. On port 8 the camera has 10.1.1.72 and in the 9 up is 10.0.0.xx on. Your system should be setup like that as well.

if you go to the NVRs network page and look under TCP/IP area it should show what IP address it is using. If it is not working correctly can you connect to the IP address and bring up the WebUI of the NVR? If you can not and it has a IP on the same range then it could be that the NVR is damaged. I have a 2108E-HS that was working and one day all my network side cameras went offline and only my POE cameras were still connected. When trying to access WebUI it failed to access the NVR. I have since repaired the NVR but it can fail. In my case it was the Ethernet Voltage Regulator.
