42XX-Ai older VS 42XX-E1

Post by Revo2Maxx »

Key Differences Between Amcrest 4216-Ai and Amcrest 4216-E1
Both the Amcrest 4216-Ai and Amcrest 4216-E1 are 16-channel AI-powered NVRs, but they differ in terms of AI channel support and certain features. Here's a detailed comparison:

1. AI Capabilities
Amcrest 4216-Ai: This model supports 4 built in AI channels. It offers advanced AI functionalities such as human and vehicle detection across more channels, making it ideal for larger setups requiring more extensive AI monitoring. all other channels can be Ai cameras
Amcrest 4216-E1: This model supports 2 bult in AI channels, meaning AI features are available but are limited to fewer cameras. It is a great solution for smaller setups or those who need AI features on a more selective basis. Also 8ch IVS by Ai Cameras so limited channel support
2. SMD (Smart Motion Detection)
Amcrest 4216-E1: One of the significant advantages of the E1 model is the inclusion of SMD (Smart Motion Detection), which helps reduce false alerts by filtering out irrelevant motion (such as animals, wind, or non-human objects). This makes it highly useful for minimizing unnecessary notifications.
Amcrest 4216-Ai: Interestingly, while the 4216-Ai has more AI channels, it lacks SMD. It still performs well with advanced AI analytics, but users looking for this specific smart motion detection feature will find it only in the E1.
3. Price and Use Cases
Amcrest 4216-Ai: The AI model, with its ability to support more AI channels, is typically priced higher. It is ideal for businesses or large residential setups where detailed AI monitoring across multiple cameras is necessary.
Amcrest 4216-E1: The E1 model offers AI on fewer channels but includes SMD, which can be more practical for users who prioritize smart motion detection and require fewer AI channels. It tends to be more cost-effective than the Ai model.
4. Which One Should You Choose?
Amcrest 4216-Ai: If your setup requires advanced AI monitoring on more channels and the lack of SMD isn’t a dealbreaker, this model is a solid choice. Bandwidth is limited to 80Mbps with Ai enabled and 200 with it disabled.
Amcrest 4216-E1: For users who want reliable AI functionality but don’t need it on more than two channels—and who also want SMD for reducing false alarms—the 4216-E1 provides a more focused, practical solution at a lower cost. Also offers more Bandwidth of 180Mbps Ai enabled and 256 disabled.
Conclusion
Both models offer AI capabilities, but the key differences lie in the number of AI channels and the availability of SMD. The 4216-Ai is suited for setups requiring extensive AI coverage, while the 4216-E1 is perfect for those looking for a more balanced option with the added benefit of Smart Motion Detection on fewer AI channels. Some other things that the E1 offer that the AI version didn't like PIR alarms, 12 face over 10 for the Ai model.

So I am clear, Owning both versions, I forget at times that the E1 don't offer the built in 4 channels like my Ai model does. E1, 16mp where Ai is 12mp. If buying used seeing the Ai is no longer being offered Online Amcrest new since the E1 was released. for me Ai model feels like it has more horse power. I personally would buy Ai over the E1 even if this means I have to pay extra for the Ai model. It feels worth it.

A few things I left out of my first post, One thing that the E1 offers that the Ai don't as well is the feature of the ANPR option when you use an Amcrest ANPR camera.

Next most important is the Zero Channel flaw

The "Zero Channel" flaw in Amcrest NVRs, including the E1 series, refers to a security vulnerability related to the Zero Channel streaming feature. This feature allows users to stream lower-resolution video from multiple cameras on a single channel, reducing bandwidth usage when monitoring several cameras simultaneously. If you have more then 1 user with access they can use Zero channel to see what is being done on the NVRs GUI. This is not a good thing because this also means that if you have cameras that are removed from the users access, they could use the Zero Channel to see GUI menu and gain access to things they don't normally have access too.

I wouldn't give access to anyone that you don't want to know everything about the system.

So I wanted to be clear, The 7108-Ai DVR and my 5108-E1 both offer Zero Channel enable and Disable ability, However my 4216E-Ai and my 4216-E1 don't offer the disable for Zero Channel. 1 other issue that I find is that my DVRs while they will show the display of the output from Zero Channel for the cameras that are connected you can see in the pictures below that the DVR don't show menu and seeing you can not only see the Menu of the NVRs you can see all data that is being entered once the menu is opened..
