Unable to update firmware for IP3M-956E

I just installed my IP3M-956E, and per the enclosed instructions, I went to https://amcrest.com/firmware to update firmware. The firmware from the website is listed as V2.420.AC00.26.R - 6/2/16, and the one that came with the camera is 2.400.0000.15.R, build : 2016-01-24, so it seems like an update is available.

When I try to update, I get a failure message:

File invalid, upgrade failed! Some functions have been disabled. Reboot the device now?

I tried to reach out to support: they said to ignore the website firmware and the camera will just auto-update if there is a new version, but that seems inconsistent with the camera documentation.

I am having the same problem that @tedp described. Downloaded the firmware Amcrest_IPC-ACKXXX_Eng_N_AMCREST_V2.420.AC00.26.R.20160602.bin, tried installing using IPConfig and web. Both failed. Please advise.

why you are trying to install a firmware for a different device model? you have the latest version available.

Looks like they fixed the website. Apparently, there is no update as of now, and they must have had something in error on the website.
