Too many night videos and other issues
Re: Too many night videos and other issues
It almost looks like lens glare from something. Video would certainly help.
Re: Too many night videos and other issues
So one of your pictures reminded me of a video I made 4 years ago now almost to the day lol. 10-31-2020.. https://youtu.be/bUNYTIQaE4o in that video I show an older amcrest camera 751 that needed the dome cleaned. Now I have some other videos I think of other locations that I have cameras where no one touched any of the cameras for years and had webs and things in front of the cameras. Anyway something you have to keep in mind is that your Lenses need to be cleared from time to time if they are exposed to the weather. Driving rain or humid nights. I no longer use that camera at that location, Now have a ASH47 there.. Keeping the Domes, lens faces clean is important for good IR night. Less so when using Turret and bullet type cameras but important for sure when there is IR or light beaming back at the cameras lens.
Be Safe.
Re: Too many night videos and other issues
I wish i could show you a video of this, they were indeed bugs. Some of them were going top to bottom, some sideways, some bottom to top, but it was not raining at all. When I took the screenshot, there were hundreds, if not thousands of bugs kind of doing a weird swirling pattern. The still photo does look a little sketchy and does not do what I saw justice. About 6 of my 8 cameras showed the bugs. It had rained earlier in the day, but was dry when the bugs showed up. For the record this is way worse than the normal compared to the bugs I have been talking about. Typically you can see a few flying around in the distance but it does not sense motion until they fly right up to the camera and shine bright white due to the IR. Because of this I can not really mask anything because when they fly close, they are taking up 60 to 90% of the frame.
I agree with you totally about the soffit issue, I tried (but failed) to keep all of the soffits out of frame, but due to where I wanted them mounted, I made some exceptions. My 2 wireless cameras are pointed at the house atm, so they see all of the IR lights from the Amcrest cameras. I do have most of them overlapped as you suggested, but there are still a few blind spots. The 4 in the backyard are mostly overlapping my deer feeder to catch all the critters from different angles, so they actually have too much overlap, but that is the main reason they are there, for the animals.
And check6, I will look into the tripwire feature, assuming my cameras have it and experiment with that. Where it might be great for your driveway with 12 pixels, my situation might be more difficult. On a couple of my cameras it might work fine, but most of them are looking at a large area and animals/people could be anywhere in that area. I am definitely not done with final placement or settings of my cameras and I still have a lot to learn and thanks everyone for the help up to this point.
I posted 2 more pics before any bugs come out and these seem to be perfectly acceptable night shots as far as I am concerned. Should I be looking for something that I am missing? Again, property is pitch dark. I am willing to change, if need be, to better cameras if necessary, like the 1/1.2 and a F/1.0 but not sure if it a need. I need to educate myself some more I guess.

Re: Too many night videos and other issues
Right after I posted those last 2 screenshots, some deer walked up to the feeder and I zoomed in and took a screenshot. Posted just for fun and clarity of picture.

Re: Too many night videos and other issues
Figured I would post 1 more of how the IR from Amcrest cams blanket most of my backyard, as seen from wireless cam pointing at the feeder/house. Currently there are 5 Amcrest cameras in backyard instead of the usual 4 as I am experimenting a bit. It's hard to see the 5th IR but there are 2 on far left, 1 up high, the other in a window pointing more away from feeder. So that is my version of sprinkler/overlap

Re: Too many night videos and other issues
What type of IR illuminator are you using for the Eufy aimed at the garage?
Re: Too many night videos and other issues
Here is the description of the blaster from Amazon.
AUTENS IR Illuminator 850nm 12-Led Wide Angle IP67 Waterproof Night Vision IR Infrared Light for IP Camera CCTV Analogue Security Surveillance Camera
I also bought one that is 6 LED and it works well too, just not currently in use anywhere.

Re: Too many night videos and other issues
Revo2Maxx, i missed your comment earlier about cleaning the lenses. I totally agree. When I am there I find myself having to clean them once or twice a week due to rain, dust, or spider webs. Maybe not every camera, but at least 1 or 2, so they do take a bit of maintenance to be at peak performance. I normally just take a damp cloth and wipe the lens a couple of times and they are good. The hood/sunshield on top of my cameras is basically useless in my opinion. It only sticks out a half inch or so over the lens, so unless you have it pointing straight down, they are pretty worthless. Main issue is rain blowing all over the lens. Eventually it will dry out, but until then you have a crappy picture. Wish that was a better design.

Re: Too many night videos and other issues
Tripwires and Intrusion wouldn't help much for wildlife. Unless you had some of the older type camera that I have both from Dahua and Amcrest. They do still offer some cameras with it..
Problem you might have, again I personally don't know the cameras you are using, so I can't say for sure. If your cameras have filters and you use IVS one or the other has to be enabled. My older Amcrest 8mp 2496EW-V2 offers tripwire and intrusion without filters only and isn't even called an Ai camera. Then my Dahua 8mp Zoom bullet camera is also without filters and so when I use the Ai from the camera it will trip to everything that enters/exits and or crosses.. I wish it was an option to have them both off on the ones with Filters, Every time I try to turn them off a message pops up on my True AI cameras that say at least 1 of the 2 filters needs to be active for the feature to work..
You will know as soon as you look at your IVS and add a rule, Don't even have to turn it on, Just adding it if there is a Filter for Human/Vehicles then it will need to use one or the other..
I know of IR Illuminators that have sensor in/out but they are not cheap. So then it would come down to building a Circuit that could take a radar sensor output and turn on a cheaper IR blaster..
Main problem is that Ai cameras are designed to help keep down false alerts caused by bugs, rain, snow, animals and such un wanted events.

Thanks for the illuminator info.
My twelve pixel scenario was to illustrate the merits of simplicity in certain situations. In my case, a 'poor man's tripwire'.
Contrary to Revo, I would suggest the following as a logical approach to moving forward with your objectives..., at least for now.
An example in your case would be to learn the tripwire and perimeter intrusion capabilities of your cameras for a much simpler and effective solution to activity detection at your deer feeder. Draw a simple line across the boundary of the woods and yard at a height that would be crossed by anything coming out of the woods. Alternatively, draw a perimeter boundary around the yard for anything crossing it. Fine tune things by trial and error over time for the best results and go from there. You will likely find nuisance alerts decrease significantly using this method.
