Recording Constantly at night

Post by darctigerman »

I have had a 4MP POE Bullet cam for over a month. Was working well for the first few weeks. It is storing motion events on my NAS using FTP protocol

I was getting a huge number of motion events at night, because every bug for miles seemed to love the IR light. I turned the IR light off, and then added an IR spotlight in a different location to avoid the bugs.

I also hooked it up to the free cloud service, but it forced me to choose a lower resolution for the cloud service.

I found that the cloud service kept messing with my settings like the resolution and detection area, so I finally figured out how to delete the camera from the free cloud service. I think that has kept my settings more consistent.

But now the camera seems to be recording constantly almost all night long. Doesn't seem to be the motion detect, since I still get emails occasionally when motion detect goes off.

Trying to figure out what to change in settings, or what I need to do to get this thing back to just recording motion events.

Hello darctigerman ,

Is it only recording full time during night? Please check the record schedule of the camera under set up > Storage > Schedule and ensure that general recording is not turned on for any period. General recording will be indicated in green color in the schedule where as motion in yellow.

i happened to change email servers, and started getting constant tamper alerts at night, which would explain the recording. What it doesn't explain is how after turning tamper detect off, it somehow got turned back on 2 days later. How do you do a warranty return on one of these cameras? I have 4 cameras, 2 bullets, and 2 domes, and this is the only camera that behaves badly.
