Re: ONVIF authentication not working in newer cameras
@ckchessmaster Hi there, I just registered on this forum to say thank you so much! I was so confused as to why Shinobi was not finding my camera but it seems you've already gone through the trouble of figuring out this weird solution, many thanks.
Re: ONVIF authentication not working in newer cameras
Hello everyone. I just wanted to share the solution that fixed this issue for me. It was embarrassingly simple.
I had to update my camera's time settings to match my NVR's time. My NVR updated with Daylight Savings Time, but my camera did not, and that ended up being the source of all my troubles. Apparently ONVIF authentication for some cameras includes comparing the camera's time to the time of the device trying to connect. If the times are too different, it does not allow access.
Well, my NVR stopped recording this camera's footage recently - turns out the motion detection wasn't working. When I rebooted the camera, the camera couldn't connect to the NVR at all, no matter what I tried. No amount of factory resetting, changing firmware versions, trying different ports, or anything like that did anything. Only disabling ONVIF authentication fixed it, like some others experienced. My camera could simply no longer connect to my NVR like it was able to before. Turns out the time changed recently due to daylight savings time. I connected to the camera using ONVIF Device Manager (ODM) and got Wsse errors, which has to do with the whole time validation thing. I updated the camera's time and it immediately fixed the issue.
