Mount 1080p small dome to standard junction box?

Post by mfarley281 »

We just built a new home and had the builder run CAT5 to the front porch at ~8ft high. They terminated the CAT5 in a standard electrical junction box and cover.

I just bought an "Outdoor 1080p Dome" model number IP2M-844E and it's too small to cover the junction box (about the size of a light switch).

The screws on the camera are spaced too short, and even if I hold the camera up to the box it wouldn't cover the entire box.

So I need some kind of bracket/adapter to screw in to the junction box, and then attach my camera to the mount.

Any ideas? I've googled for 2 hours so far and zilch :(

Here are two photos that show the mismatching sizes between a standard junction box and the IP2M-844E mounting template. The first shows how the screws don't align, and the second shows that even if they did, the circle wouldn't cover everything.

Help! :)
