IR off

Post by steamer »

I have a IPM3M-943 outdoor camera that I turn the IR off because the outside light is sufficient. Does this make the day?night settings all the same? what I mean is to get it to "see" in that light condition I turn up the brightness and contrast to get more detail. I find I have to use the same settings on day, night and normal to get the night view the way I want it, otherwise the camera uses a less bright setting if available. This of course makes my daytime viewing a bit too bright. Am I going to have to use IR to get the day/night to switch between settings? the IR washes out details of objects that get very close, which is why I don't want it on. Help...

Hello steamer,

You can set different brightness levels for day and night profiles with IR off and then schedule the Day/Night profile for auto switch over under camera > Configuration > Profile management.

Melvin,
I do not find a "auto" in the profile management. Are you suggesting that "normal" is the auto setting? That word is there before day/night. This is a question I have asked on this board recently which was never answered. "What is the "normal" mean" which is written just before "day/night" in the configuration. If it means auto it should say that. if not, please tell me what your designers meant it to mean.

I guess if "normal" meant auto it wouldn't have it's own brightness and other settings. If this is obvious, pardon me but I am without a clue as to what this means.

Hello Steamer,

Normal, Day, or Night mode means, once you choose one of these options, you can adjust the below settings to the desired values, click Save, and they will stay configured as a preset for the chosen profile. Any changes to the settings will update in the preview window in real time. (Keep in mind, after you click save, the profile will revert back to what is selected in Profile Management but your preset changes will remain.)

So you can set the profiles for Day, Night and Normal with any values you need for brightness, contrast etc.

You can set day profile with IR off and night also with IR off with your desires settings and set the schedule to automatically switch over to night or Day mode.

Thanks Melvin, but my question still needs answering. It is obvious what day and night settings mean. What the heck is the normal setting?

and it would be nice to have the Auto switch where you said it was. But it is not on my ip=config software.

Hi,

Normal is just another profile where you can have custom settings and apply for the whole day. Under profile management if you select 'Normal', these settings will be applied round the clock.

Good for Amcrest, they invented a new description of a day and it is called "Normal". A tick box next to day and/or night for "this setting for 24 Hours" would be too easy to understand I suppose. Amcrest software designers remind me of Chinese or Taiwanese Persons who write the instructions on their products. In years of late those instructions have been getting better though I see. They are sometimes funny, sometimes impossible to understand for the same reasons I suspect that Amcrest's are. Please get an (articulate in the English language) person to look over your "finished" product to improve intuitiveness. Trying to sort out Amcrest software is neither funny nor intuitive.
