IP8M-VB2796EW bad video issue

Post by TFanch »

I just noticed my camera doing this a while back and just now getting around to inquire. It’s producing very bad video noise or interference when it tries to go into IR mode or when I put my hand over the front. I’ve turned off IR light or night vision and it still does the same thing.
Picture if what it’s doing is attached, anyone run into Somthing like this? camera maybe 6mos old, used indoors.

Feedback appreciated-

Hello welcome to the forum.

I would look at the power supply you're using. If using POE maybe remove from port and try another or see what it looks like while using 12v power supply. Could be you are using CCA cabling and it is picking up EMI, are cables away from power cables?

Thanks for the reply- I have tried a couple different methods of power source including direct 12v, and two different POE sources, UNIFI switches and POE injectors. Cables I’m using are standard CAT6 network and have tried different lengths - just recently new 6ft molded cable after taking the camera down to troubleshoot this issue. The interference comes and goes as I put my hand over the lense. It’s like Somthing in the camera switches on and then the noise comes back. Goes away when the area is lit well and the picture looks very good. Any form of night vision use is useless because of the noise that comes back when it gets dark.

Then it sounds like the camera is damaged in the Sensor circuit?

However I thought I would clear up my answer, I would try to factory rest the camera. Don't make any setting changes to the camera let it be what it was setup as from factory. If that don't clear up the issue then I would try to install the Firmware again. Be it the same one if it is offered or a newer version of the firmware. If doing these 2 things don't clear it up, then the camera has a damaged circuit. The issue could be as little as a diode to as bad as the Image Compressor and even the main CPU circuit could have something out of value..

Thanks for the suggestions, I will give that a try. Then it comes apart for further inspection if that doesn’t help.

Thank you! 👍🏻

Well if it is new from Amazon or Amcrest I would look into getting it replaced rather then taking it apart. However if it is not sold by them and not under warranty then understand inspection need. from the picture it don't look to be a Mechanical issue and leaves it to something within the circuit it self. Seeing there is no Schematics for these it might be difficult to repair without there being some item within the circuit showing signs of damage or board level troubleshooting.
Also it could be something software related. It is hard to know without a deep dive into the camera. Here is an idea, Go into the camears WebUI, Then go into setup, then under encoding change it to a different format like 4mp and see if the camera will work in night mode in a lower encoding. If it does then almost likely not hardware related but software. Just another idea.
Be Safe.
