I have a few of the IP4M-1051 cameras, but am disappointed that Amcrest no longer makes them. They seem to have been replaced in the Amcrest lineup by the IP4M-1041B, which is a step down.
The 1051 cameras have a 120 degree field of view, along with a zoom functionality. The 1041B has a 90 degree field of view, and no zoom.
The ASH41-B is not a very good replacement, given that it is a "Smart Home" product that requires setup via the App.
Am I missing some offering from Amcrest? I like 4-MegaPixel, pan-and-zoom, with wi-fi connectivity - it's easy to get power somewhere, much harder to get an ethernet cable most places.
IP4M-1051 - why no more?
Re: IP4M-1051 - why no more?
Well to be fair the 1051 and I do own as well as 841 and 941, 721 but yes the line did have a Software driven Zoom. It wasn't a real zoom but what made it a good thing was that you could setup a preset with that digital zoom added so you were looking at that area of interest after a reboot or going to a preset.. Downside is that over time things change and people wanted Auto Tracking and so yeah some added in things were done to give some updated features while taking away what others were already using..
Kind of ugly but a camera that offers Wifi is a AL-P402W camera, This offers pan and tilt and has 2 cameras. Cost is kind of low but sometimes when they first come out price can be low to help sell and get people hooked lol..
Plus says it is AI so should help keep false alerts down and not getting 100 alerts at night from rain or snow like I do where I live with motion only cameras.. I know you said you like 4mp and I have my share of 4mp cameras myself.. This one does have 2mp and there is verbage on the camera page about 4mp but that might be just combined 2 sensors of 2mp for what is being called 4mp. Plus says it Auto Tracks human movements..

Re: IP4M-1051 - why no more?
The AL-P402W is likely a non-starter for me because it needs its own app, and does not seem to be compatible with the Surveillance Pro app.
I can understand why people want the AI features - but it seems like that comes at a STEEP price, presumably because the cost of the AI computing that Amcrest must purchase to support their AI features is baked in to the price of the camera. $529 for a 4MP outdoor POE camera with AI? That seems nuts.
Maybe they are trying to get out of the consumer market? POE seems more geared toward professional installation, permanent placement. With Wi-fi, I can put my camera wherever I think I need it just by running an extension cord. I realize that this basically limits me to 4MP or lower cameras, but that's fine, much easier than running an ethernet cable.

Going through the forum, reading and learning. I googled the AL-P402W, and WOW!Ralphslate1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 11:56 am The AL-P402W is likely a non-starter for me because it needs its own app, and does not seem to be compatible with the Surveillance Pro app.

$49 from amazon. (https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-Detectio ... B0DT7RGPN2)
Ad copy:
""Amcrest Link 2X 2MP WiFi Camera Outdoor, Human Detection, Motion-Tracking, w/ 2-Way Audio, Pan/Tilt Wireless IP Camera, 30ft Night Vision, Built in Siren, AL-P402W""
YEAH!!
""Unlike our competitors, our human detection algorithm is built-in directly on the chipset (hardware ASIC) and thus doesn’t require a cloud access subscription to operate. The P402W features AI Tracking which allows the camera to track humans in motion. When enabled, the camera will begin to automatically record and track a human in motion.""
BUILT IN AI! WoooooHooooo!!!!
""2MP PAN, TILT, ZOOM WIFI CAMERA ""
YEAH! Well.. I dont see anything saying zoom in the specs or packaging... probably a typo. Amcrest Direct does that, they had a typo that I got a 1TB drive with my NVR. They corrected the ad copy after I contacted them.
""The device will not connect to any other platform or apps except the Amcrest Link App.""
Wait.

Just a typo?
"" (Not compatible w/ Amcrest Cloud, Amcrest View Pro, Amcrest View Pro 2, or NVRs) ""
Got it.

WT*?? AMCREST. I wish you folks would pick ONE app to 'rule them all'. Instead of several apps that dont work with each other. PLEASE... TAKE MY MONEY!!

As a retired auto guy, this is the equivalent of Buying a Chevrolet car, but you couldnt use all GM dealers for parts and service. Just the ones for YOUR model Chevy.

I would be buying 2 of these cams TONIGHT.... if they worked with ViewPro2. And BI. Or my AMCREST NVR...
