IP3M-954EB Nighttime Problem

Post by mtcarl »

When the sun goes down this camera appears to be constantly switching back and forth between day and night mode. For a few seconds while in the night mode the image looks fine. When it switches to day mode the image is almost totally black. I've changed the settings to every possible option, but no difference. When the sun is up the image is fine and in full color. I've changed ports on the NVR, but no difference. Moved to a different location with a know good cable, but no difference. Any suggestions?

So it is hard to say what is going on. It almost sounds like your camera is not getting enough power to make the switch or maybe you changed a setting in the camera that is making things not work so well. I can tell you that my ASH26 Spot light camera has kind of the same issue. However that camera is going from IR to white light. When i get the issue is when it is going back to IR mode at night the White LED turns off and the scene goes dark besides some lights that you can see at the distance but not enough to light the scene. Then after a few seconds the IR comes back on and the scene lights up once again. The issue in this camera is the system isn't really designed right and once the white light goes off the camera waits for the Delay to switch back to IR..

So in your camera seeing it is a real IP camera there is something you can do to make a change, however it would require you to make changes a few times a year or deal with IR longer then you want and that is to setup your day/night schedule rather then leaving it on Auto. doing this will again require you to make changes to the cameras for each season or let it go once set but again can cause the IR to come on to late if you setup in a time where it was getting dark at 9pm or coming on to early if you setup when dark is 5pm that is why the schedule would have to change with the season. If you leave in Auto, the camera in an area with trees or area where the light can do down before normal can cause the camera to go into IR and back to color a few times normally for about 10min in my case anyway I just ignore it and have other cameras I use that are color day/night so it don't matter to me that a camera is doing this.. If it was only camera and was high traffic I would setup and change as needed the day/night schedule..
Be Safe.

Thanks for the reply Revo2Maxx. I don't think it's low power because it "performs" the same on other NVR ports and locations where other cameras work fine. I will try your suggestions regarding the settings.
