So one of my main cameras in the back yard has a different 2020 FW then the last one on the Website. One from 2-17-2020 it also does the same thing that the other 2020 and also the 2019 FW ones did after changing the iframe to 30 from 60 while it was running 30 fps. *I did have it setup before testing at 22 as I normally do* anyway same thing after doing this I can reboot camera it comes back still normal 1080 and with 30iframes. Then in the NVR again I make any change on the Encoding section like adding in the Water mark oddly on the 841 don't show on the NVR side like other cameras do. Makeing a change with that makes the camera come back to 60iframes grrr..

Side note, Another thing I found with these cameras and don't matter to me much to be honest as I have been using them without any issues outside of the strange preset mess.. IS when i change the camera to the 22 fps on main and 18fps on sub channel the sub channel I have found on 3 different cameras to be on a iframe of 54 with the fps on 18? What? So some reason the camera has changed the setting on its own over time for the sub at 3x.. What is strange, I don't mess with them so I don't know why or how the cameras changed. It might have been connecting to different machines over time. Seeing I reboot and make changes like what happens to change 30 back to 60 and nothing changes the sub back to 54 so I don't know the Combo yet for that lol..

Cameras are cool for what they are and Cost.. As I said at start of the thread, Keeping the cameras on 2017 firmware is best bet.. Once you are on 2019 or newer there is no going back.

So here is an IDEA lol. If you want rather then send just the Lens and ICR, You could send me your camera, I will swap out the Guts from a White 841 with good lens and the camera is still on the 2017 FW. So you would make the choice to update to the problem FW that has 1 issue or another that isn't found on the older FW.. I would also change out the sticker or if you wanted we could make a Salt N Pepper camera lol.. Keeping the sticker on bottom

Anyway I would mail you back a working with good lens camera.. Might even toss in another camera frrom the company I sent you last time. Different camera then the last but if I sent it you would understand why lol..

I appreciate your effort and input, but I have all of ten bucks tied up in this camera and way too much time and aggrevation into it already. At this point it has boiled down to the challenge of figuring out the issue rather than anything else. LOL

The reflash didn't change anything. It defaults to 720 directly from a factory reset. But as mentioned, if I do a soft reset to default video settings it goes straight to 1080p 30fps as would be expected with a reboot..., which gives merit to your bootloader angle. This could theoretically be corrected by the lens/ICR swap if the current lens is indeed throttling down the resolution due to bootloader override of some kind. I'm more curious about trying that than anything else.

BTW, the 2017 firmware behaved exactly the same and is why I bumped up to the 2019 in hopes of it being corrected, (plus for the Chrome compatibility).

And FWIW, the sub stream stays where I set without issue.

Yeah ok the Lens and ICR is fine, I just hate to say/think that it will not correct the issue.. The Lens is a dumb lens, the ICR as well. It is just standard power on no power to make it work or not work.. While the camera does have zoom ability it really doesn't it is a Software driven digital zoom. The damage if there is in fact damage, most likely on the main PCB and not the camera pcb.. Really not much there.. Anyway if there is damage and the boot loader is going over checks and finds an issue it might revert to lower as a safety thing..

Question? Did you ever verify that the camera worked correctly when you got it? Not a I think it did but know for sure that it did? Here is why looking at Ebay they sell these cameras at times 10 to 20 at a time that need repairs one way or another.. Some are posted with what is wrong with them and so on.. I never bought any like that seeing I don't want all them cameras with no power supplies fix them and have to get the power supply so I have been like NOPE won't buy lol..

Anyway if that person was to buy form a Fixer pile or maybe they bought after the fix.. Someone might have pulled the camera from a 721 and put in the 841.. Now I can't say that it would work *Never tried it* but I know the 2 cameras have the same look and same cable setup and easy could have been they took the head from 721 put on 841 and so the camera software thinks it is working with a 721 on reboot and will default to 1080 on software side of WebUI because the main PCB is 841..
