I Can't Connect My Camera to my WIN10 PC!

Post by dljone1 »

I can’t access my camera through Windows 10! :(

I was able to set up and access my 1080p camera using the app through my Android phone. Similarly I was able to set up my wife’s Kindle Fire tablet to access the live feed. We can P2P using these Android devices without difficulty. However, I’m having a devil of a time trying to access the cam through my Win10 laptop! 
I’ve tried:

• Using the Amcrest IP Config tool. The camera shows up but I can’t login. I’ve tried using the admin/admin id/password combo as well as the exact password that wifey and I use for the P2P feed.

• I’ve tried signing on using the device ip. Again it does not recognize the same password that works for Android P2P access and the admin userid.

• After multiple, unsuccessful tries of the above procedures, I get an “account is locked” message. I’ve had to unplug the camera to reset.

• I’ve also tried resetting the camera. (This necessitated setting up P2P again to ensure that this was successful. I’ve kept the same password throughout.)

• I’ve tried accessing through amcrestview.com. Initially, I was able to register for an account and download the browser plugin. I’ve tried to sign on to the device but it didn’t recognize the device listed in the account. I really can’t do anything without that obnoxious nag saying that I need to download/install the plugin. Now I can’t even log into the account! I’ve tried logging into the device without success. BTW, does this use the same “Device Name” that I use in the P2P connection?

• I’ve tried using Chrome, Edge, IE (Edge “Open this page in Internet Explorer” option). And, YES, I did download the plugin!

• I’ve forwarded the port in my router for the camera IP.

What am I doing wrong? Does this camera even work with Windows 10? I know that I’ve brought up a lot of issues but I feel that this isn’t ready for primetime.

Do I have to Have PC Access for Full Functionality?

I would love to access my new came using my PC. Since I can access feeds using our phone and tablet, I wouldn’t HAVE to access through my laptop but how would I install and format my SD card? Is there other reduced functionality due to lack of PC access?

Please Help!

Hello dljone1,

The camera does work in Windows 10 and we have lot of customers using camera on Windows 10 successfully. You need to use internet explorer or Firefox as other browsers are not fully compatible. When you set up the camera through app, you only change the password for the camera but the username remains as 'admin'. Make sure you are using the correct username in the web browser.

Please contact our Support if you are still having issues and we would be happy to assist you.

Good News: I can log into my Camera using IP Config (I get a live feed) or IE or FireFox. The BAD NEWS is that the plugin does not work for either IE or FireFox.

Loading it into FireFox is not even an option. The plugin is not part of its offering.

I've downloaded it into IE countless time but it does not work! IE shows it among its list of add-ons (and it shows it as "Enabled") but it does not show as a "Loaded" add-on. When I log into AMCRESTVIEW, it nags me for this add-on WHICH DOES NOT WORK.

What do I do?

Hello dljone1,

Sorry to hear you are still having trouble. Have you tried the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software? The link is below.

Ok, I have installed the Surveillance Pro software. I have signed in using the admin/admin combo. (I can't sign in using the changed password of my device). However when I click on "Devices," my camera does not show up. How do I get it to recognize my camera (1080p model)?

Hello dljone1 ,

You need to add your camera to the software first. For this, login to the software and go to the option 'Devices' and select your camera from the list and click add. After this, you need to edit the device by clicking on the pencil icon to ensure that you have input the correct username and password for the camera. After this you can go to the live view option, select the camera to view.

How do I View Motion-Detected Recordings with my Android App

Post by dljone1 »

Woohoo! I've added the camera to the software and am exploring its features.

Things that I can't figure out:

How do I have Motion Detect push notification sent to my Android app?
How do I view Motion Detect-triggered videos on my Android app?
My camera has a disk, how do I view recordings using my Android app? Are the logged, motion-detected videos that I can view using the surveillance software accessible on my Android app?

My camera is set up using P2P. I can view live feeds just fine using my android app. I am hoping to capture motion-detected recordings on the disk that I can view remotely using my Android app. Can you please tell me how I can do this?

Hello dljone1,

For push notification, you should have the camera set up to detect motion and save images to Sd card. it needs to be configured directly through the web interface of the camera (Or Surveillance Pro). The settings are below.

Go to Setup > Event > Motion Detect > Set the schedule for everyday.

For setting up push notification, open the Amcrest View Pro app.

Go to Menu > Push Notifications > Configuration> select the camera name, Enable the switch, select the Push type as 'live view' , select motion detect and check 'IPC'. Click on the save icon(floppy disk) on the top right. This should enable notifications for the camera.

You can view the motion detection recording on the Amcrest view app under playbacks. For this, you should have motion detection recording set up on the SD card of the camera. If you record to your PC using the PC NVR feature of Amcrest Surveillance Pro, it will not be available through the app, only the recordings on the SD card will.

To get the recording on the app, just open the app and go to Menu on the top left > Playback > Click the + button on any of the boxes > select your camera > Choose the from and to date for the record listing and click OK.

If you have additional questions or any issue with getting it to work, please contact our phone support so that we can take a detailed look.

Can SD card recordings be automatically, periodically uploaded to the cloud?
