I am trying to use DHCP reservations on all my IP cameras. I've setup all the camera MAC id's in the router and the dhcp reservation works fine whenever the camera is connected to the normal lan port, however, when I connect to one of the POE ports on the NVR it does not pickup the correct IP address from the router. The nvr tcp/ip network setting is to dhcp mode.
What is the trick to getting dhcp reservations to work for cameras connected to the nvr poe ports?
DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
The NVR is in essence another router. What you're trying to do isn't possible. You can still run a camera through the NVR without connecting it to the NVR directly.
Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
Ok I now see that my nvr is using the Poe ports as a separate segment on my network. So my local network router is 10.0.1.1 and the nvr Poe switch took IP address 10.1.1.1. My Poe cameras connected to the nvr switch were assigned IP address 10.1.1.128 and 129. How do I connect to these cameras connected to the nvr Poe ports?
Is there a way to put the route to this segment in my router? If so how do I do this?

Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
I guess I don't understand what you want to do. You can only utilize DHCP reservation for devices on your local LAN's subnet. Anything connected to the NVR ports will not be on your local LAN's subnet. I can definitely help you but I need to know exactly what you want to accomplish in the end.
Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
I want to change the default passwords in the IP cameras connected to the POE ports on the nvr. I'd also like to be able to connect directly to these IP cameras without going through the nvr. Is this not possible?
Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
The way to accomplish this is to buy a separate POE switch and plug your cameras into it and plug the POE switch into your main network. Then you would search for the cameras from the NVR and add them. You would take note of the IP addresses for the cameras and then set up DHCP reservation in your router for them. This will give you the ability to view the cameras both individualky as well as through the NVR. Hopefully, I understood youcorrectly.
Re: DHCP reservation while using POE port on NVR
How do I submit a design change request on this feature? People are integrating your products into existing networks. it would be nice if you could add a checkbox to the interface to enable or disable the dhcp service.
I understand why you have the feature. If it’s a closed loop system it makes sense. But I’m integrating this into an existing network that is already configured with a dhcp service.
Please make your product more flexible.
Thank you,
Dan
