Connection Issues After Enabling FTP

Post by zerop3 »

Hello, I recently purchased the Amcrest model IP4M-1068EW-AI. I set it up just like my dozen other Amcrest IP POE cameras. My set-up is to use FTP using Filezilla on my local server to record to a HDD on my server. I've found that when logged into the web browser interface of the camera using Google Chrome, I can enable the FTP and it starts recording and everything seems fine, but when I power off the camera and then back on, nothing works. It doesn't record and I can't even log back in to the camera. I have to factory reset the camera to be able to access it again. It doesn't seem to be able to get an IP address from the router after I reboot it after turning on FTP. I've tried using a static IP and a dynamic IP, I've tried using a different FTP user on Filezilla, etc. I've tried everything I know which is fairly limited. Any ideas why it would work until I turn on FTP and reboot? Could you suggest some detailed troubleshooting items for me? I'm not a networking person, I only know some fairly easy basics but this seem to be a network issue, but I just don't know what. Thanks!

Hello. I can't really help you but I just want to say thanks for posting this because it basically tells me that these cameras suffer the same fate as Reolink cameras do when it comes to FTP and it losing the setup. I have been having this issue with Reolink so I purchased two from Amcrest. I can't even get mine to connect to the FTP. Time for a refund and back to searching for an IP camera that delivers what it promises.
