Bricked IP2M-841 with wrong voltage?
Re: Bricked IP2M-841 with wrong voltage?
Scratch that lol, so removed the bad cameras Led and tested it and it lites now out of circuit so will have to find the fault past the led.. so I am clear, I tested all other cameras leds and the dead one was only one that didn't lite on green, so thought ok bad led. No something in circuit is clamping to ground in bad camera. So will have to follow circuit to find fault. Testing led off board both leds work. I wanted to confirm red and green lit as well, so both working after removel seeing stress on leds to heat and so yeah not the LED....

Re: Bricked IP2M-841 with wrong voltage?
Boy what fun. I mean understand there is a lot going on with these cameras but this complex little PCB is driving me crazy, lol. So in one 841 have via that go to nothing on other side but does infact go somewhere through the center of the pcb to area on other side of pcb. One board I have talked about in past from a friend is poe 841 that has it going to a different area lol. So tracing how things go is time consuming because things not going where you expect for testing. Then issue for me is pcb between ones I have might be different so still need to source a working 2018 device so I am not chasing traps. Seeing these look same but could be different even in the pcb inside layout. Need to find fcc that isn't ending in 2met. For testing. Right now looking at camera pcb it does look like Regulator is damaged. Only going by leg color but could be fine. Again need like version for testing. Took cable apart because sounded crunchy but all wires were fine, tested to working pcb and camera and tested fine.
Again cost for cameras are cheap enough break one best to just buy a new one. Most parts no datasheet and Schematic so hard to test without working of same year. Like 2018 release is start of new pcb layout even though all almost looks same, parts and through hole location don't seem the same for all parts. FCC AMC01 must be different enough to get new ID #.
In second picture it looks like the pins had been very hot. 3rd picture of good camera the pins look normal nickel in color. Now that could have been soldering issue when they put together.

Re: Bricked IP2M-841 with wrong voltage?
So not sure but bought 10 AP2127K-1.2TRG1 to replace the sot23-5 on the camera board. With any luck it didn't take out the sensor and only the LDO. Output is 0 on the dead one and testing a good camera 5v in 1.2 out so not 100% that is correct value seeing working camera while older 841 circuit is little different as you can see in the 3 camera picture. Right now only thing to go on. Might be a 1.8v and the 5v amcrest power supply has larger voltage drop then when I use my bench supply on the dead one. All I know is sot23 has no output. As soon as I get the chips will install and would be cool if was only thing wrong with the camera.

Re: Bricked IP2M-841 with wrong voltage?
So yeah without Schematic for this camera it will be hard to fix. While I wait for part I thought I would do some testing. There is more with this camera that isn't right, just not figured it out?
Thought I would power the camera and inject the missing 1.2v at the camera. Doing this didn't wake the camera as I had hoped.
So will need to as I have said before get a good testing 841 that has same FCC number for complete testing. Seeing I am not 100% on the voltage testing. Most things on main PCB of the test 841 and bad one come back with close to same value when testing both devices.
So I will find another 841 while I wait. I am not one to give up very easy. Been to cold to go out to workshop and get my scope. When it warms up if not fixed before I will add another tool to my testing. Been toying with idea to kill another older one with protection diodes to see if it would get damaged past that but don't really like killing cameras for the fun of it lol. If I had Schematic that's one thing. Not hard to fix when you have the right tools. Devices like this Schematic is valuable tool.
