I am not sure how I killed it. I think it was when I logged on to the AD110 with a browser( putting the IP address in the browser). I got a screen with stuff like brightness, hue, etc. where I tried to increase the brightness. Sometime after that I noticed that the AD110 was off line. But, I was also fiddling around with Surveillance Pro configuration page, so I don't really know what caused the brick. I did have the AD110 showing up as a camera on Surveillance Pro along with my four 941s and the NVR4108. And it also showed up on the IP Config app.

@hawkeye62 , does it mean the reset button no longer works? the last thing i tried was hooking up the doorbell directly to the transformer without the door chime and the chime kit. the objective was to have the doorbell the only device in the circuit with the transformer. if the reset button doesn't work, then it's time for raise a ticket for a rma.

Yes, the reset button does nothing. I think I see the ring color change to green and then back to blue. So, you think there is no way to "unbrick"?

when you hold down the reset button for close to a minute, the ring color changes from a darker blue to green, then back to the regular light blue, right? if yes, then you have bricked the doorbell. i tried everything i could think of and i could not unbrick it and had to rma.

The camera cycles IR modes a bunch and makes clicky noises, but I do not dare play with settings without using the app. There are not much settings in the app yet. Hoping for more settings soon.

Trying to visit camera with http/https browser, nothing pulls up.

I am able to add via RTSP to sighthound and homeassistant lovelace card though, good stuff :ugeek:

Code for homeassistant

configuration.yaml

Code: Select all

camera:

stream_source: rtsp://admin:[email protected]:554/
name: Front Doorbell Cam

password: asdfasdf
lovelace manual card

Code: Select all

aspect_ratio: 50%
camera_image: camera.front_doorbell_cam
camera_view: live

hi @Dingdongditch , welcome to the forum. yes the ad110 doorbell supports rtsp streaming but the network stream lags and slow when compared to the rest of the amcrest ip cameras. there are two ways to add the doorbell to the NVR. the first method is using the NVR device scan to add the doorbell as a private device. second method is add the doorbell as a general device using rtsp url.

Do you think Amcrest will provide a firmware update that will eliminate the bricking problem? It is ridiculous that a device cannot be reset to original factory settings.

both a new firmware and an updated smart home app that allows more configuration settings for video and for networking. any conflict with configuration settings should not brick the unit's factory reset button. it defeats the entire purpose of having a factory reset button.

thank you for welcome

The lag might be that AD110 is blocked by brick or wood which attenuates wifi signal for the most part
If i remember correct that 3dB is 1/10th of signal, wood attenuates 4dB in the 2.4GHz spectrum
am waiting for ability to modify camera settings eventually.

hi @Dingdongditch , i don't doubt walls and objects do slow down wifi signals but the lag time experienced on this replacement doorbell was worst to the point i can't even get a decent rtsp. the first doorbell i installed back in december worked great and i was able to get decent rtsp streaming and i kicked myself for bricking that one due to obligatory product testing. i have a decent ac router with good wireless coverage and i can step much farther away from the router and still get a good signal. nvr regular recordings from the doorbell reveals the doorbell often went offline hence i have periods of missing recording when the doorbell lost its connection to wireless network. motion detection recordings on the nvr show severe lag time and skipped frames however motion detection recording that is locally stored on the sd card is fine as it faithfully recorded each second on each frame. the smart home phone app also frequently shows the doorbell as offline. i didn't have this experience from the first doorbell but something is off with the replacement doorbell. if your doorbell is working great, don't test it with legacy app.

here's what my router shows the full bar from the doorbell. wireless coverage is not the issue. device scan using the nvr shows the doorbell device disappearing with repeated scans; then it comes back with more scans, then it disappears. i think the replacement doorbell struggles to maintain a solid wireless network connection.
