This sounds like a software/firmware issue. I can use my admin password through the onscreen display, but trying it through IE I get that its incorrect. Whats the deal???

Also experiencing this issue. I was using web app to configure motion detection, when it seemed the cameras were no longer connected. I logged out and tried to log back in and got the message that the account was locked out. I did not enter an incorrect password.

What you call a feature I would call a bug.

Just purchased my 2nd IP2M-842.

First cam was fine viewable from amcrest cloud. Second cam cannot be added to the cloud without making you pay for subscription (thanks amcrest for your customer loyalty)

So - downloaded amcrest view on my phone. 2nd cam works on amcrest view but first is locked out. So - I thought I would check out chat, or phone, or forums.....

Trying to get support from amcrest is painful.
- Chat - I gave up after 40 minutes of waiting for someone to reply.
- Phone - same deal - infinite hold.
- Forums - their response is we have aded this "feature" to protect you.

I purchased these on amazon and luckily - amazon will let me easily return them. I will try to warn other with my amazon review

Hi farad_37,

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. The user account locked out message is shown when you try to login to the camera for a couple of times with a incorrect password. This is only because you tried adding the camera to a smartphone or other device with incorrect password, and the app is still running in background trying to connect to the camera with the incorrect password.

Please make sure you don't have this device added to any other smartphones or tablets or PC software's with incorrect password. If you are not sure about this, I suggest you to create a new user for the camera with admin privileges and re-add the camera to the smartphone after deleting it from the device manager with the new username and password.

If the account is locked just wait 20 minutes - or- call support.

Also, If the account is locked, Remember the Mouse on the NVR acts up :? I have seen two characters appear with a single click of a mouse button

If you want to change the Admin Password, Here are a few tips. Please Skip/Ignore those that do not fit your situation.
  • Before you do anything, create two backup ADMIN accounts with a simple 8 character password (Characters and Numbers Only)
  • Only change one account at a time
  • Logout and try to login to verify that the changes took [ before doing any more damage ;) ]
  • Change the admin password using the following criteria and guidance
    1. Use no more than 8 characters (Longer passwords do not get parsed well by the web interface. And, you will NOT get any warning or error about the problem - so, be careful
    2. Use Upper and Lower Case and Numbers,
    3. :!: Write the password down and underline Uppercase letters to help jog your memory
:) If I am helping at all, I' ll try to get back to help with those that want to setup the accounts on the cameras. And, I intend to write a little about setting up cameras on a separate POE switch and keeping those cameras behind the NVR firewall (like function).

This company is the worse, they provide poor customer service and resolution to their technical issues tons of customers endure with being locked out. I bought my system in June 2016 I didn't use it until July 2017 after I built my home. I got into the system the first day, the second time I attempted to access my account it said password wrong. I called the technical support and they provided me with a password that only lasted one day as well as other people have endured. I have dealt with this issue for months and the customer service gave passwords that repeated the issue and when you seek more resolution the Indian customer service providers they out sourced in India give you a careless response as well like a routine response from a pamphlet or something like if they really gave two shits if your system doesn't work. This company is crooked and distrustful they take your money and provide faulty products. I guess its the way of Making America Great Again buying stealing from hard working people. I will make sure I go to Amazon where I purchased the system to provide warning to others with potential interest in purchasing from this company or anything associated with this company's name.
