2779ew-Ai change out Gel packs be careful

Post by Revo2Maxx »

So doubt many if any change out Gel packs as I do. If you do and have the camera listed might want to be careful. Camera is small and seems that the camera is hot and cooking the wire connectors. Or maybe I just got a bad one. Anyway remove from base, remove 3 screws that hold 2 halves together. There will be very little room for access, first flip up ribbon cable release, then while I was trying to remove power board connector and being what I thought was careful the Ethernet connector came out and broke male part at pins 11, 12. Then removed power connector from camera board to power board. Then there is 1 pack of Gel taped to Micro Sd ribbon cable, be careful when removing it. Then will need to remove 3 screws that hold in power board to back half. Transformer has heat transfer pad that connects to housing so once screws are removed it will be connected by pad not tape but does try to hold on lol.. Tight area so may need to make or reuse the package just swap out Gel beads with fresh ones. Tape end back closed use strong heat safe tape.

On the camera board side taking out the 2 screws will give access to front of camera board and wires for ICR, LED and the Mic. There is no Gel pack up there so no real need to access unless there is some other repair needed on camera side.

After changing out Gel packs in back slide pcb back into place, add back the 3 screws holding power board. Then plug in cables to the camera board first Ethernet wires, then power board, then slid Micro Sd ribbon back into slot and latch down close camera ensuring the seal is in place and not pinched add in the 3 screws. Connect to switch and confirm all is working correctly before installing it back where you have mount.

Reason I think might be heat related because the pcb has some parts that look like they get hot. It still working just shows signs of excessive heat.
Be Safe.
