Yeah, I think that's a similar situation I was in as well. The hole where the thick wires are coming out is a very tiny hole, which explains why I can't shove them back into the wall. I'm going to manually cut a larger hole around it and that should hopefully do the trick. Thanks again for helping me troubleshoot!
