Hi, im using an Amcrest NV4116E NVR running with 8 of the 4K IP8M-2496EB Cameras. I have the NVR connected to my 4K TV via the HDMI output that i use for my local display in my living room. On that display, i have all 8 cameras showing at the same time, 7 of them using smaller blocks and 1 using a larger block that looks over my property. Camera/Channel #1, for some reason, appears to be displaying the low quality substream on the TV instead of the HD stream. All 7 of my other cameras are showing a higher quality stream, just not #1. The odd thing is, if i disable the "substream" on the cameras, it will kill all my locally displayed cameras feed to the HDMI.
My question, is, why do i have 1 camera that the display is showing the substream, while all 7 others are showing the HD stream.
Ive factory reset the camera and NVR, tried all different video resolution settings ect. Sometimes it will display the HD stream after a reboot of the NVR, but it may only last for a day or 2. All firmware is up to date.

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
I didn't look up the NVR but may want to look at what the Specs say for Local Display or Playback... It could be that there is a Limit and your past it... Idea not saying that it is fact...

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
The Nvr says it's capable of 16 cameras, so I would assume it shouldn't have a problem with half that. The odd thing is, it only happens on the 1 camera. If I move it around, it follows that camera.
If I look at the video live via a pc or my phone, it's perfect, just on the TV via hdmi it looks horrible and kinda choppy.

I don't know I was only going off some ideas of what I seen before... I did just look at the Main page for your NVR... Maybe in this it might help with idea of what is going on... There are some numbers in here...
Amcrest’s NV4116E-HS NVR supports hard drives up to 6 Terabytes, while Featuring 16CH 8MP Recording, Playback & Live View @ Real-Time 30fps, as well as 8CH 1080p Recording and 8CH Playback, 3MP Recording and 4CH Playback @ 30fps, 8CH 4MP Recording and 4CH Playback @ 30fps, and 8CH 5MP Recording and 3CH Playback @ 30fps.

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
Ya, i called support, they just had me reset the camera and NVR to factory settings, none worked. I have 7 other identical cameras, so im starting to think maybe its a bad camera, but the odd thing is, it works just fine on my phone, pc and watching recorded video, which makes me think its an issues with the HDMI output.
Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
Don't think it is HDMI output...
So did you take the camera and try plugging into a different port that shows the right output?
So lets say as in your case Ch1 looks bad. Take Ch1 and plug into Ch2-16 and see if the camera says bad or moves to the display that it was there already.... Then put that camera that was on the ch you took from put on 1... I am sure it will be same. Meaning Ch1 will still look not so good and where ever you plugged in the Normal Ch1 camera will look good...
Can you take Picture of your Display

Another thing to try for kicks....
Go to a good camera, under settings, camera, Audio/Video where the Encoding area is. Down at the Bottom left of the box will show copy. Then give you the option of where you want to copy it. Pick the Channel that isn't working right... Seeing you said the cameras are the Same should be no issues... You will have to rename it to the right name after if it takes that info or not from this method of copy...
Also forgot to mention.. If you feel it was HDMI have you tried another Cable, Or different HDMI port on the TV?

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
I think it is limitation.
Not sure if you read my thread where I could not display all 8 channels running HD and UHD simultaneously on a monitor or TV directly connected to the NVR.. I was only able to do that with the substreams. However, all channels do record at their max resolutions and you can display all channels at once remotely on a browser or in the program "Surveillance Pro".

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
I'm not sure it's a limitation, as sometimes I can get it to work after a reboot. I have moved a good camera to ch 1 and it remains looking good, so that tells me ch 1 is OK. I have tried a new hdmi and monitor, same results.
I have copied the settings from a good camera to the issue camera, and one thing I thought was odd, the camera in question (ch 1) will let me record at 25 fps when recording in lower 4k res, while the other 7 identical cameras only have an option as high as 20fps. Why would it be different? They are running same firmware.
I'm really starting to think it's the camera, just odd that sometimes rebooting the nvr fixes the issue.

Re: NVR HDMI Output Showing Substream
Ok to see if I understand this right... Took the good camera copy to not working right camera and it worked? Or you took a good working camera put on CH1 of DVR and it worked? So then what happened when you move bad camera to CH you took good camera from?
Sounds like to be Honest a Power Issue.
Do you have another PSU or POE injector? It could even be a Cable Issue. I know your thinking no couldn't be because it works some times.. But question is where is the Cable? In doors? or outdoors?
Premade or your made cables? Either way cable can be bad... However... if camera is only changed at back of DVR/NVR then it don't show it is bad camera because it still has cable connection... That cable needs testing too....
If cameras are Mounted it could be hard to test with a PSU However if you have one that is within Specs. I would unplug the Cable from the POE and plug into your Router, Use PSU plug in to power camera and test over IE or Chrome and see if camera is good that way...
Many ways to test out and find the issue....
