NV4108E-HS Audio Input Recording

Post by AngieTexas »

If you have 4 IP Cameras without built-in microphones. How do you get sound to record to channel 1 using the audio input on the back of the NVR?

I have an outdoor microphone plugged in and when I push, start talk icon on left of web interface, I can hear the sound, but it does not record. When I click the sound icon in the upper right of channel 1, nothing happens.

So, the mic is working, but I must not be realizing an audio setting somewhere. I have gone through all the setting, which are pretty easy to navigate, but there doesn't appear to be an audio recording setting other than for spacific ip cameras, which mine do not use.

Any advice is most appreciated.

Hello.. So I am not sure but I am going to guess that you will want to go to the camera that you are trying to set your mic on.. Say CH2.. Go to the Encoding Page there will be a option down at the bottom of both Main and Sub stream to record Audio/Video make sure the Check box is Checked... Once that is done Restart the NVR going to Shutdown Reboot.. Your not trying to reset your only looking to reboot the NVR like turning off and back on if you will...

HiYa Revo2Maxx,

During the original setup, I did see the Audio/Video check boxes as you mention/show. But, after the installation of the cameras, they disappeared. See attached...

I assumed, those setting were for the specific cameras on the channel and since my cameras were not audio capable, they simply didn't show as an option.

You are very kind for you help, you time is greatly appreciated.

HiYa Revo2Maxx,

Apparently, the Web UI displays a different set of controls then the actual NVR. When using the actual NVR, I do get the audio check boxes, but they will not populate. See attached...

HiYa Revo2Max,

Another concern is the frame rate only goes to 25 on Regular and Extra Stream. Doesn't even list 26-30.
It says on box "Record in extraordinary real-time 4K Ultra-HD (8.3MP) at 30 frames per second with a max throughput of 80Mbps."

So, not taking playback into consideration, the original recording on all four cameras can not be set to record at 30 frames per second.

As I am typing, I can hear a reply, you have to drop the cameras resolution down 50% in order to record at 30FPS. If that is the answer to both recording and playback, why buy 8MP cameras?

Thanks again for your help!

I am wondering if you have a Compression issue? Maybe at H,264h it can only do 25fps? While right now I don't have any 8mp the best I have is cough 3mp lol Crazy thing is it only works at 25fps but if I take it to 1080p normal I get 30fps.. However I am again not sure.. Maybe look at the Compression or maybe it wasn't an issue with the NVR but an issue with the Camera it might be only able to run at 25fps?

About the Audio hummm Yeah the WebUI sadly don't do much for the Configuration of the NVR.. It can do some things not everything... So now I am going to have to go play with my System Delete out all my Cameras on my 2116-HS and install a MIC on my 3mp camera seeing it is only one I own that don't offer Audio... While all my other systems have Audio built in 1 way or another... My 3 Samsung 1.3mp all have a 3.5mm in and out that I use and all my Amcrest IP cameras have the Audio built in with Jack as well...

Now I was going off what I did on my Amcrest DVR and my other Brand DVR as all my Cameras on there are all without Audio.. So I did add Mic to a couple cameras 1 I have 4 inputs 1 I have 1 and another I have 4 as well.. My old 16ch that I have in my shed working a few cameras back there has 16 audio in but only used 1 or 2 I can't remember right now lol... However since I moved it I kept the Audio off as I have IP cameras that get same footage anyway with built in Audio...

So humm I wonder

Well I just tried it by deleting my Cameras in my unit but I think if I look at these little better I don't think the NVR has Audio input.. Not like my DVR's sadly I didn't think of that until I tired it on my 2116-HS and nothing on CH1 so I was like ok my 4108 while it isn't an HS only goes to 5mp maybe I can get it to work Backed up all my camera exported data.. Then deleted all the cameras and installed my camera to Ch1 and again tried to install a audio went over every setting and tried everything then it CLICKED lol... While this only has 1 in and 1 out this is I am going to guess so you can have 2 way Talk to cameras that have speakers on them... So it looks like the NVR is only set with Audio from a Camera... That is what I found to be while it might be only a guess after some working on 2 NVR's that I own.. Only thing I could think of...

Edit: So after testing this theory that is what it is for... At the top of your camera page is a Mic button if you press that and have a Mic connected to your input you can talk with who ever is at the Camera area speaker
