Attaching DVR to NVR over network
Attaching DVR to NVR over network
I have an Amcrest 4 channel DVR in an outbuilding and a 16 channel NVR in the main building. I can see one camera from the DVR in the NVR, but I can't get the other three to display. Ideally I want the four cameras from the analog DVR to be cameras 1 thru 4 in the NVR, but I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
Re: Attaching DVR to NVR over network
Sadly I have a few different DVR's and NVR's and the ones that can pull the DVR's in only seem to pull in CH1.. I do have some that have a Channel zero and even on them machines I can only pull in ch1 and that is ok to be honest I put my Motion Tracking PTZ old old CVBS camera from 2011 on my DVR Ch1 so I can have the ability to use Motion on that channel to pull in another PTZ on my NVR seeing it don't have Alarm in or I would just use one of the alarm outs on my PTZ camera to pull in footage form that preset.. The thing and why this don't work for all PTDZ cameras is because they don't have a Return to home feature and I wish they did because I would use more of my 841's for this however because they only stay at last area sent.. I do use some 841 for this as long as it is between 2 station cameras say my ch2 on ch1 it on motion tells 2 to go to preset x then ch3 tells ch2 to go to preset z... These x and z are because I am to lazy to go look right now what preset it is sent to lol... The cool thing about this is our DVR is acting as a Encoder bringing our Analog camera into our IP NVR used to be a Costly piece of hardware...
The cool thing for me anyway is I have that camera and all my other Analog PTZ cameras on a RS485 controller so I don't have to worry about ptz of the camera unless i am remote then I wish I had that and on some of my NVR's I do have RS-485 out and have it connected so control my camera outside the NVR

Re: Attaching DVR to NVR over network
Thought I would also mention that if you are working on the WebUI for the NVR you can also click on the Pen icon for the DRV you loaded in your NVR, Then you can Choose CH# say it is a 16ch DVR, Then you pick 16 or maybe you want to look at CH8 you can pick CH8 then after that the box below will have 1-8 or if you choose 16 it will have 1-16 and you can pick the camera you want... Sadly it don't do my DVR's Zero CH even though it would be ultra small seeing it is a Picture of all 16ch in 1 frame.. Wish it could though it would be cool...
I personally have not tried a 2mp or better camera to see if it will give you the HD feed for the other camera off the DVR.. I did however use my POE NVR and pulled in a 2mp camera and while it don't look as good as making that connection to my 2116-HS directly it did look ok...
My DVR pulls in the Camera that I have it set on My CH8 of my DVR as a 960h and that is what the camera is so it does that well. Most of my Cameras on there are CVBS and 960h with 4 cameras that are 1080p.. Ch8 is one of my Motion Tracking PTZ cameras.. I like that I can have it connected to my Main NVR seeing I don't use the DVR as much as I used to.. I do have far to many PTZ speed domes lol 2 with Tracking from 10 years ago but they still work well..

Re: Attaching DVR to NVR over network
I figured it out - probably an easier way but it worked for me. Delete the DVR camera from the NVR. Detect again. Add it four times. Edit each one individually and change the settings so channel and remote channel match the camera. 1,1 - 2,2 and so on. Then change all the login name and PW. Worked like a charm.
