Secure HTTPS setup on IP2M-841W

Post by Volkemon »

New IP2M-841W cameras. Working on port forwarding to allow remote access. (link - https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... -IP-Camera)

SO, first note they give is "Note: Before port forwarding your device please make sure to setup HTTPS. For more information on how to set up HTTPS click here.

OK! :)

Using this link for a tutorial:

https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... est-Device

Did the entire process start to finish. Everything went as the tutorial stated, up until logging in HTTPS.

It will not log in secure. Gives me this (strikeout doesnt work here.. ) - https://192.168.1.108/

I reset to factory, and did it all again. The only thing missing was this:
security.PNG
security.PNG (16.4 KiB) Viewed 3248 times
Which I imagine is because I installed a certificate once, so it will accept them now as it says.

******************************

After the second try, I am stumped. Pretty sure I did all the steps, both times.

So.... any suggs? I am desperately trying to get this camera online before we go out of town for NYE. Wife would LOVE it. :D

THANKS!!

UPDATE:

Well, problem is still an issue, but I did a workaround using P2P.

I can now 'see' the camera on my cell using the Amcrest Viewpro2.

Any advice on the OP still welcome. TIA!!

To be honest it is best to use P2P then having your device connected with open ports even with HTTPS enabled.. Keep in mind that with P2P and the camera ports not freely open to the internet it would be hard for someone to know that your camera is even there let alone how to attack it.. I have over 70 devices and each of them using P2P. I have tested my devices on open port with web access HTTPS and without both ways seem to open them within 2 days of giving them direct access to attacks.. be Safe Use P2P..
Be Safe.

@Revo2Maxx Thanks!!

It did work rather well, and hearing you have 70 devices using that access method, it should fit my current needs. Thanks for the reply!

I am escaping Re0l1nk hell, and so far very happy with the Amcrest cameras. We were able to get alerts and liveview at will.

Now that we are back I am going to explore the GUI for the cameras, and the View Pro 2 phone app.

Thanks again!
