RG6 wiring instead of Cat5/6

Post by huskerfan »

I just picked up an Amcrest IP NVR model number NV4108E-HS 4K 8CH POE NVR

I future proofed my home (mostly) by running cat 5 to five of my camera locations.
However, I still have two locations where I ran RG6 for analog BNC connectors. Along with low voltage power.

I researched that I can convert the RG6 into the Cat 5 using video baluns. Here is the product I speak of: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SR ... NANY&psc=1

My question is: Will this work with the Amcrest NVR? and can I assume it will only be video? I will not be able to capture audio?

Thank you for any help.

Sadly they are for the trip the other way around...

For you to use a Older system over Cat 5 you have to use a hardware product that is going to change your Analog Camera to Digital. YOur Able to use those to go from Cat5 to BNC for analog cameras.... Then the issue is that you would have to use an Analog camera. Sadly the issue is that quality of most older CVBS system are lower then your Ip camera.. .However there is some older Ip camera that still have low Res pictures....

Thank you for the reply. Either I don't understand your reply or I didn't explain my situation very good.

I have an rg6 cable running from the corner of my house to my nvr area. I would like to hook up a poe camera to my poe nvr using this rg6 cable. There's gotta be a way to convert the signal?

Sorry I didn't expand on my Answer.. I guess I failed to explain that my answer was in relation to the Image you were displaying on the function of what it was designed for...

However same day with in an hour of my Reply Jack7 gave option that you need and would work going the way your looking to go.. I can't say how well it would work do to the fact there is loads of Conversions going on in there... I am sure there might be some type of Max MP that would be able to move that way...

There are others out there here is a Video that you can watch that will show someone talking about the ones they have and the cost of little over 120usd... I don't know my self There also isn't any Demo of them using so to be honest I have hard time believing what I can't see.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_9l4o-lsYA

While again My message before sorry was in answer to the use of the item that you had a link to and it was designed to go the other way.. Cost much less because there is no Conversions needed to make Analog work over Cat cable...

Thank you once again. I believe I understand but I don't really want to spend the $130. You don't think the $15 versions will work? Something like this? : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073T ... UTF8&psc=1

Again this won't work...

"〖STATE-OF-THE-ART〗: With the most upgraded Technical Solution, the network video and power balun adapters allow easily transmit 1080p - 8MP video data up to 400ft distance via a single cat5e/cat6 cable from your HD analog camera to your DVR no degradation of picture quality"

As the listing says it is for using Analog cameras over Cat5e or 6 cables...

Try and help as I thought I covered it before... These won't work you have to understand that the IP camera is a Digital FORMAT camera and as such the Connectors you need will take that Digital and put it into a Format that can travel over BNC and because it then needs something that understand what it is saying at the other end there needs to be 2 kind of like mini computers doing this... One to make the Conversion and one to Reconvert back to what the IP camera is transmitting to start with...
