Re: Port Forwarding or Viewing When Away From Home
I'm not overly familiar with Amcrest's DVR systems but that shouldn't matter. First, assign a static IP to your DVR. The is simple and in the DVR's setup under Network. Make sure you enter your router's IP as the gateway. Make sure you hit Apply.
There are two ways to access the DVRs: via an app or via a browser. In the setup under Connection, the TCP port is probably set to 37777. Leave that. Next, change the HTTP port to 1500. Hit Apply
Now log into your router and set up port forwarding for both the TCP port (37777) and HTTP port (1500) to forwqrd to the static IP address you assigned the DVR.
Next, go to www.whatismyip.com and write down your public IP address.
The 2 things you need to get to your DVR from the outside are your public IP and port. If you're using an app, use your public IP and 37777.
I hope this helps.

Excuse me! How do you port forward HTTP port 1500?
I have no issues forwarding TCP port 37777 to 192.168.1.132 (my DVR)
but there is no option for an HTTO port number 1, number 2, there is an option for 'Other' but it won't let me forward for 255.

If you're using a browser to connect, you need to use HTTP (or HTTPS).
Re: Port Forwarding or Viewing When Away From Home
For viewing from out side of your DVR location, you may need the following information:
1) DDNS - it provided by your DVR vendor, usually setup from the official site.
2) DVR IP address - Setup on DVR network config page, usually changed to a fixed local IP
4) Network ports - Can be found on the DVR network config page
3) Router IP - Get it on your computer, use command: ipconfig or ifconfig. Usually is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
4) Port forwarding - setup on the router NAT/port forwarding/mapping page, forward the ports from router to your DVR.
5) A port forwarding test tool - you can use http://neodigi.us/checkport
