Password character limit in new firmware

Post by rhys_rhaven »

1) my wifi password for my camera network is 30 characters
2) The first IP2M-841 camera I bought connected to wifi with no problem
3) The second IP2M-841 camera I bought failed to connect to wifi

After multiple hours and many profanities, I'm here to tell you that versions of your 841 firmware newer than maybe 004 only accept a 28 character password? 001 is the only older firmware I've found and it definitely works.

So....wtf. also in wanting to replicate this, the only way I found your old firmware was by using the internet archive. You also only have the changes posted for the last firmware, making me think ya'll do not understand the definition of the word changelog. (Log, more than 1 entry)

works dumbsmallpassword
works 0123456789abcdef789
works 0123456789abcdef789012345
works 0123456789abcdef78901234567
works 0123456789abcdef789012345678
broke 0123456789abcdef7890123456789 (but only on v 001)
broke 0123456789abcdef789012345678z (on all firmwares)
broke 0123456789abcdef78901234567890 (on all firmwares)

Something to do with the hex representation?

this is against some mikrotik gear put into B/G mode 20MHz channel size WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES all enabled.
