NVR NV4116-HS, Two-Way Talk (NOT including cameras with built in speakers)

Post by anonday »

Hello,
I am trying to get the two-way talk to work through my NVR ( NV4116-HS ) but I'm have issues when using it, specifically through the app. I have two Amcrest cameras that I am trying to get to function with this feature. The cameras I have are a PTZ ( IP2M-846E ) and a Dome (IP4M-1028E ). I primarily access the cameras and the NVR through the Web browser and have no trouble using the two way talk that way, but I am unable to get it to work through the app.

There are two ways to output audio, you can take the audio out directly from the NVR OR the camera's dongle may have an audio out that you can connect to.

The two way talk works when I have a speaker connected to the audio OUT on the NVR, and the audio IN has a powered microphone connected to it. From the Web browser I access the NVR and enable the two way talk by pressing the "Start Talk" button. While using the two way talk this way it doesn't matter what camera you are using, you'll be about to talk back and forth.
Should be noted that when you are using the NVR's Web Access to view a cameras live view , the software doesn't allow you to select the microphone button and the speaker button at the same time.

When using the Amcrest Live View Pro, the Two way talk only works when I am directly connected to an individual camera (NOT through the NVR), AND that camera has both an audio OUT (to speaker) and IN (to microphone) on its dongle connected to a speaker. You activate it be enabling both the microphone and the speaker within the app. Which means I can't use the two way talk and have the audio I am speaking into the phone go through the audio out on the NVR.

So, My question is, What do I need to do to allow two way talk to function through the NVR(including camera's without an audio out) from the mobile app?

I just purchased NV4116E and waiting for delivery (together with 5 IP2m-841 1080p cams). I just joined the forum and what I see is that Amcrest basically never responds to user issues. I'm concerned with my purchase and hope things work out with it. The stuff is arriving on Monday. In reading your post I'm not happy with not being able to have 2way talk with the cameras because this is a main reason I bought this whole thing for over $500.00!

Amcrest does not read, interact, reply or even is interested in this forum. They don't care.

Here is a jungle, with the "survivors" (us, the buyers) helping each other.

So, I ran into this as well and, after MUCH frustration, I have managed a solution/workaround to have both. I did this with just 2-3 cams but you could do it with all your voice-enabled cams. I post this for future reference.

I set the camera I wanted 2-way with to different TCP/UDP ports (IE:TCP 40001/UDP 40002) and port forwarded them out my router. If I have multiple cameras then I need to have separate ports for each cam and PrtFwd them all.

(IE: Kitchen - 40001 tcp / 40002 udp and Living Room - 40005 tcp / 40006 udp)

I then gave my NVR the newly changed TCP port of the respective camera and they continue to work. When I add them in the app or the surv. PRO software I created a new group "Intercoms" and added these connections there.

I now have my NVR as I want and I just have to open the specific cam in the intercom group to have 2-way.

A bit of a hassle but it does function.
