Some background first:
I have IP2M-841 cameras connected wireless to my router. My NV4108e is connected to these cameras via the router connection (ie. I am not using the POE part at the back of this NVR). Mainstream is set at 1080p,30fps with 4096 bitrate which I record motion detection on the camera SD card and also record motion detection on my NVR.
I use Amcrest Surveillance Pro for live view and for playback. Locally using Amcrest Surveillance Pro I have no issues for live view or playback if I select a camera directly or if I select the same camera via the NVR list and select that camera. This applies if I use the P2P option or the IP/Domain option and no issues. I have properly port forwarded the cameras and the NVR as I can remotely access live view via browsers or access live view using Amcrest Surveillance Pro. Remote playback works great for these cameras using I/E or Chrome Web view app.
Now the issue:
Again using Amcrest Surveillance Pro remotely I can live view and playback (ie SD recordings) fine if I select a camera DIRECTLY on the device list but if I select that same camera on the NVR LIST of cameras (either option P2P or IP/Domain remote) the NVR will not properly playback the motion detections that are recorded on the hard drive.
On playback the yellow bar indicators for each motion detection displays at the bottom of the screen and a still picture with a still time display on that still picture is displayed but with no change in video display but with audio in/out. Then after some time this still picture jumps/changes to a new still picture and a new time stamp on this picture matching the new location start of the next motion detection section and again with audio in/out. This continues to repeat it self thru all the motion detection sections.
Since the above occurred at the same main stream record as on the camera SD card at 1080p,30fps and 4096 bitrate I continued to reduce the resolution of the main stream recordings(6 times) from above resolution down to a LOW VGA 30fps 512 bitrate recording. Exact same results on Playback remotely with this NVR!!! I tried both remotely the P2P option and the IP/Domain remote option on the device list and the results were the same. I also tried several cameras and again same issue with the NVR playback remotely.
Has anyone had this issue. I cannot understand why using Amcrest Surveillance Pro I can get good remote playback 1080p on selecting a camera DIRECTLY on the device list and be able to playback the SD recordings but if I select that same camera from the NVR list on the device list the same recordings from the hard drive will not playback properly( even at a very low bandwidth VGA 30fps 512 bitrate). I believe it is not a bandwidth issue as the cameras work well (NVR firmware ver.3.200.AC00.0 2017-07-04).
Appreciate any thoughts/help.
NV4108E Remote playback issues
Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
I see that under "NVR firmware update experiences dated Aug 23,2017 by Raptor" there are several posts about latest firmware update on NV4108E like my nvr with the latest update. Looks like my issue on remote playback may be due to the recent firmware update...still hoping to receive some feedback from anyone
Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
I also have aweful issues with NV4108E NVR running the General_NVR4xxx_Eng_N_Amecrest_V3.200.AC00.0.R.20170704 Firmware.
All issues have started after upgrading.
1. Cannot play recordings and push notifications when connecting from WAN (practically, when I'm out of the house and connecting remotely). I can see live video, but the recordings are either black window or a few snapshots or bits and pieces of the playback.
When connecting via LAN, video playback works. Applies both for PC browser and phone app.
2. Phone app crashes when trying to view recordings.
3. HTTPS server becomes unresponsive after the unit has been running for a while. My browser finishes TCP handshake, then initiates TLS handshake, but the server does not respond. Rebooting the NVR recovers, but if I'm not at home, this is not very useful.
4. Setting "auto maintain" option to reboot every day has no effect, after reboot the values reset back to every Tuesday at 2:00am. This was my mitigation for the FW issues, but now possible only once a week.
Unfortunately, there is no way to downgrade to the previous version, the unit reports "Conntion time is out" (original phrasing).
I sent my few months old unit for RMA and got a beat up replacement box which has the same exact issues running the same messed up FW.
I created 4 tickets for each issue, but Amcrest support closed them and consolidated to a single one, as if they are all the same.
So far there is no solution available, only appologies from the poor support team.
Since I have been very patient about this and nothing has happened to fix these issues, it's time to gather and go public and/or pursue legal options.
Thanks,
Hai

Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
Am still awaiting a solution response from Amcrest as my NV4108E is useless for remote playback using Amcrest Surveillance Pro or IE browser or using amcrestview.com.
I still have not received any help/solution for my issue. Playback works fine on LAN but remotely has issues as noted in earlier note last year.
Has anyone received a solution from Amcrest or has anyone solved the remote playback issue?

Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
Hi, are you also recording the “extra” stream. Ya we call it substream but for some reason they’re named differently.
It seems even though I could play back SD in survalience pro, the NVR and playback on the external devices and app like Amcrest view pro relied on the substream or rather NVR extra stream to be turned on. After I did this and then in the one test camera I accessed directly and set the substream to 256, and the rest I left alone.
Once I made these changes it now works. I don’t know if this config will help but it resolved my playback issues.
I web into the NVR directly, click the gear button upper right, then storage menu, record, then I set auto under the “Extra stream 1”. By default it is off.
Hope it helps,
Rik

Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
Btw are you port forwarding 37777 to 37777 for the NVR?
Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
Rik, do you have a NV4108E-HS or non HS?
Re: NV4108E Remote playback issues
Hi Kcam, I have the nv4108-hs.
