Mac Address Needed

Post by Justyhead »

Hello, I have been attempting to setup the model IP2M-841B up the past two days however, I need the mac address, how could I go about finding this information? I have contacted Amcrest support twice now and after about 2 hours of remote support, there still has been no success with even setting the camera up.

Note*:
The mac address is needed to verify the device before it is even allowed on the network, so I can't get my devices on the same network to use Amcrest's IP Config tool to even find the mac address that way.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum

I have not heard of anything about needing to know the MAC address before you can access your Camera?

So I can't see what you have tried to do to make a connection to your camera. So I will walk you though what I DO now when I get a Amcrest Camera

I can tell you that for me when I went to set up my Cameras for the very first time it was little hard to setup. Now I just go all past what I was confused with the first time and set it up how I want and worry about the rest later....

To do this you will need.
Camera, Camera Power Supply, Ethernet Cable, Router or Managed Switch, Smart Phone, Ablitity to log into your Router or Switch as Admin, Amcrest View Pro app, Depending on FW will need either IE or Chrome for logging on the WebUI.

First thing I do if there is an issue with being able to log on a New Device in my router is I make sure I turn off my Deny all New Devices in my router to let all new devices access. I have it setup already but it is good if you don't have it already setup, have your Router be A DHCP to give out all new devices a IP address. It is ok in another step you will change your camera to Static....

I then would log into the Router and Make note of all Current Devices connected to my system. Connect Camera to Ethernet cable, and power. Once the camera does it pan and tilt process. Press and hold the LED on the back as it is also a RESET button for 20 seconds or until it flashes. I then let the camera connect to the Network.

At this time look again in your Router and see what the IP of your new Device that loads in your pool...

Then you can go to IE if older Firmware camera and type in that address in the bar. Then it will ask you for a user and password. Both after being Reset will be admin....

Once you get logged in it may Prompt you to make a NEW Password.

So for this. I went and took down my New FW camera. I then connected this camera to a different Router then the one it has been working with for this. I reset the Camera back to Factory by pressing the LED on the back. It was about 10 seconds and I could feel the camera kind of jerk a little and then the led started to flash. Camera is now back to factory. I connected this camera to Router without anything connected to it just for testing. Then connected my Computer to the router. IP giving to my Camera was 192.168.0.100 because that routers pool of IP I have setup from 100 to 199. My computer I changed over to get IP from DHCP server because all my IPs are static and I wanted to make this as easy as It might be for another person. My computer got IP 192.168.0.101.

I then went to Chrome because this Camera I reset is New FW and it uses Chrome. I then in address bar type in 192.168.0.100 and I am about to get the Camera Log on page. I then log on with admin and password of admin in this FW it prompts you to set a new Password now... I set password as I would with my Normal setup because I will be putting this back on my main router.... Want this easy from here lol....

Now I can see all live view and such.

So for now Click Setup, Then Network, Then TCP/IP then in the Drop down box you want to click on wireless. Here I change the Settings from DHCP to Static and change the Ip to an address that the Router will notice when you log in. However it might already have a IP address giving. all other settings set as well. Change to Static and Press Save.

You will want to Bring up your Amcrst VIew Pro app on your Phone now. Press the + to add a camera. Wifi Camera, Then Withernet WiFi Setup, Then Press the Next on the next screen because you should have the Cable connected at this point already. Also make sure you are Connected on your SmartPhone to the 2.4ghz connectoin you want to use. click Next. Can the QR code on the bottom of the Camera or Press Enter SN manually. Then Next. Make Name at top the of the screen and put in the Password for the camera. Next. Then Select Wifi might come up or your Wifi you have connected depends on FW. Mine asks what one I want to use. Put in the Password for the SSID of the Wireless you want it connected to and then Next. Next screen will say Camera Successfully Connected then you can click Live View at the Bottom of the page.

Now if you want to connect over Cable only. The setup is little different> when you click WiFi Camera after pressing the + you can at the top of the page Click Add Connected Device, Then you can Choose if you want a P2P Setup for IP/Domain/DDNS P2P will have you scan the QR code on the Bottom. The other is for just accessing over your local network and would then put in your IP of the Cable connection and wouldn't even need to worry about WiFi... I conenct both to be safe.
Be Safe.

Grrr I forgot to Export my setup for this camera lol. Now I have to setup STMP, FTP, all my other settings lol. Oh well. I will make sure I export the settings after I get all setup so I don't have to remember all these settings lol

Oh well. Hope you found something useful in that. While that might be not as easy as doing a Starting Wifi setup from the get go. This is how I do things and makes it easy for my needs.

Again Welcome to the Forum
