I have 2 cameras attached to a 8-port NVR. Overall very happy with the configuration but still have 3 cameras to install. At work today I went to check the cameras with mixed results. I am hoping someone can explain the differences in login options, LAN vs WAN, and how this impacts communication between browser/app and home network. P2P setup was used. Here is what I am seeing:
- Chrome App running on Windows 10 (attached to my company's wired network)
Login with WAN setting selected - Timeout occurs
Login with LAN setting selected - Everything works great
- Amcrest View Pro on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
When connected to the same network at my company - Timeout occurs
Disconnect from WiFi (use Verizon data service) - Everything works great
I am not sure if these 2 cases are related. There are possibly some network settings at work impacting the Android App's communication but I would have expected this to impact the chrome app as well. Could someone explain the usage of these settings on the Chrome App login screen and why a similar setting is not needed on the Android app.
LAN vs WAN
Re: LAN vs WAN
Hello CU-Tiger90 ,
The Lan-Wan options just lets you choose the amount of data transfer from the NVR location to your device. Wan is supposed to us less amount of data compared to Wan.
It appears that your wifi network at office has some restrictions which is not allowing access to the app.
