IP8M-T2669EW-AI Not recognized

Post by eadamy »

I have a new camera and am going through the Amcrest View Pro setup. Instructions say to connect the camera to the router. I have done this using an Ethernet cable from the camera's ethernet port to the router as instructed by the app (not going through the POE injector). On pressing Start Live View, the app reports "Failed To Connect". I have thrice verified the SN. On logging into my router, I note that the Ethernet shows nothing connected. I can find no power on light on the camera nor is one shown in the manual which I downloaded. Is this a dead camera?

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

How are you powering your Camera? You have a POE switch or you using a 12v power supply?

Found a 12v power supply and installed it. Working now. The directions are really poor, it can not just be plugged into the router. Most people will not have a spare 12v power supply available.

Glad you got that sorted out. Most times POE cameras are known not to come with Power Supply seeing they are POE. None POE cameras liek Wifi and normal IP cameras come with Power supply. If you expect to buy more cameras either Wifi or IP and want a good Power supply there are things called PDU that come in 12vdc and 24vac formats that is good. I have a few of them some 4 ch, 8ch and even a couple 16ch units. Even turned a 16ch 24vac unit into a Split 12vdc and 24vac so I would have 1 power unit in that area. In the future I will be converting all my 24vac units into 12vdc units seeing now days most cameras I buy are only 12v and my older units were 12/24 dual voltage cameras.
Be Safe.
