IP8M-T2499EW IP address stuck

Post by amcrestdude »

Howdy all,

I am trying to configure some settings on my IP8M-T2499EW after unplugging it from a 4116E NVR system. Since one cannot configure many settings while connected to an NVR, I went ahead and unplugged it then used a POE injector to power it back up and connected that to my router. I can see the address 10.1.1.xx which was allocated by the NVR but off course I cannot connect to due to being connected on a 192.168.x.x network.

In the past on with my other older cameras (2MPs) the usually revert back to a network IP once disconnected from the NVR but on this new IPM8M camera it did not.

Any ideas of how to connect to it?

Thank you.

Well there are a couple of things you can do and really is going to depend on what you use your computer For...

First and easiest way is to go into your Network settings and give your self your IP cameras Range ip..

So like on my 4108E I have mine setup to give out 10.0.1.xx range of IPs So in my Computer I have 10.0.0.109, 10.0.1.109, 192.168.1.109, 192.168.0.109 and a few more setup in my Computer so when I Reset a IP camera back to Factory that has a 192 number I can access it, When I take my IP camera that I connect to my POE NVR and I connect it to my POE Switch I can just go to IE or Chrome depending on what FW of the camera is loaded... Type in the 10.0.1.67 and my computer will access that camera, Make the changes and then connect it back to the NVR... For me that is the safe way.. Another way but in the past I found to be a PITA and that is to keep all POE connected devices setup DHCP rather then being static this way when you take your POE camera, Connect to your POE Switch your Router can give it an IP then when you connect back to your NVR POE port your camera goes back to your NVR line of IP however I found that can setup a different IP then what you had it set for and now it is different IP and might be ok however it might change to a Different CH if your NVR isn't full..

1 Thing to mention, DON'T setup IP Filtering without setting up a IP that you can change your PC too because to fix that mistake while your camera is setup Static can be a pain lol...

How to setup Press the Windows Key on the Keyboard then X mouse up to Network Connections, Click Ethernet, The on the right click on Change Adaptor Option, then right click the Ethernet and go to Properties, Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4 to highlight it and click Properties. Right above Ok and Cancel is Advanced click on Advanced, This will show your IP address, Click on Add for IP address and inter your Cameras IP range so say it was 67 and you have them setup for say 64-80 then set your ip as something like 10.1.1.111 just don't set it as the same of any other device that you have on the Nvr so there is no Conflict when you make the connections.. Then Press Add and you will see the new IP under your Main IP
Be Safe.

Howdy @Revo2Maxx ...

Thank you that worked ok. Interesting it does not revert back to another state when you disconnect. You can easily loose a camera that way or have to jack into it to do a hard reset.

Thanks again.
