IP3M-956E 3mp What?

Post by Revo2Maxx »

Hello all.. So I thought I would mention about my IP3M-956E incase your thinking about buying one! However I think it seems like all the 3mp cameras are getting discontinued and well so has this one.. Last FW was in 2017 so if you want something with current FW *Firmware* this isn't for you...

Anyway one thing I see is that the Camera website has a few things that are mis understood or not right... Doing a search for the camera in Google will bring up the listing for Amcrest Page that says this is a 2048TVL camera however this camera is running at a different rate...

When you load the page the Tech Specs for the camera says it will do Main Stream: 3MP(1~10fps)/1080P(1~15/30fps)
Sub Stream: VGA(1~25/30fps) not sure why they undercut the rate seeing mine is at 3mp and it is working at 20fps... While this isn't 30fps 20 seems to do well... Image size is 3M(2304×1296)/1080P(1920×1080)/720P(1280×720)/
VGA(640×480) and that is where I get confused myself... Some people call this camera 2048 that is on a 3.1mp sensor and yet this is a 3.?mp becasue it is running 2304x1296... My other 3mp cameras are running as what I call normal 3M (2048x1536)

So one of my domes that is a 3mp Zoom or Motorized VF with auto focus to be fair I thought I would test with the Amcrest.. My other is a Dahua camera... 1 I find the Amcrest camera with better picture. I did a Snapshot over the camera WebUI and thought it was interesting.. One my Amcrest has wider and shorter picture and was 8.5megs the other 3mp camera was 12megs in size and is not as wide but much longer then the amcrest camera..

Picture with Zoom in the picture is the Dahua camera Revo3MPDome is the Amcrest camera.. Took these down today to install new Gel packs in them so I thought I would set them in same area sadly Dahua camera is facing higher then the Amcrest one and is slightly tilted.

I used the viewing software to view image info for the pictures to see image size and space used on the hdd in a capture to make this lower HDD space I did a screen capture of them..

In the End.. I like the Amcrest quality better.. I have thought about doing something that I expect no one todo but sadly there is no controls in the Amcrest MB for a Zoom lens or I would swap out lens because I like the ability to Zoom cameras...
