Otherwise...

The parameters you mentioned are the ones I'd check first. You could also compare them to the other camera for easier reference/confirmation. Make sure the sub stream info (if used) matches. You may also just want to try deleting the camera and re-adding it in case something got squirrely the first time around.

Which cameras are we talking about? And did you let BI do its automated thing to add them or enter your own parameters? Are you referring to any of the YouTube channels? There are several real good ones, each with its own style and pace, but all are pretty good and worth a look if you're new to BI. I've been running BI for a little over a year and still watch em occasionally for reference or if trying a new feature.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble. If the config stuff comes up fine, feel free to scream at me for second guessing your initial assessment! LOL

Good luck with it.
I'm installing the IP8M T2599s. All settings that aren't camera specific (motion zones/alerting etc) are copies of one another. I have direct-2-disc enabled, h.265 etc.

So far I have yet to lose the camera again. I reduced my max throughput (using CBR instead of VBR, dunno which one is better) to 4096 on main, and 320 on sub. Key frame is 30, max fps is 15.

I'll reinstall the camera in BI if I get any more trouble.

If it is CCA in the attic it could be problematic in the hot of day over cooler nights, However if the length is long it could have issue both day and night because of the extra resistance CCA has over real copper cables. Something to try if able, Move a power supply to the camera location even if this means you need to run an Extension cable to the location. This can test and if the issue go away with 12v power at camera site it could be bad cable, bad cable ends and posted before and or even a hard kink or bend in the cable could cause issue. Also distance can play a factor. If there is any exposed and wind hits it can cause data loss.

So something easy to do right away. Is try a Different Port on our Router/Hub/Switch and or POE NVR however your cable is connected. Try a different port and see if the issue goes away as Hardware can fail as well. If you have a Managed Hub looking at the Logs can help with Packet loss info and might even show other data that can help find and fix the cause of the issues. Some Switches even offer cable test that could point to where the damage is in your run.
I did confirm the cables are CAT6 UTP Riser cable. Switching ports did nothing, and I did switch the patch cable from my switch to the wall, have yet to have an issue, but I doubt my little patch cable is the culprit. Its solid copper too.

I'll still request my electrician come out and recheck his terminations, and use one of those gadgets to verify the cable run is good.

Good deal. (Sorry I missed the camera model in your first post. Duh.) Sounds like you could have had a slightly less than ideal connection that was corrected by just swapping cables around -- or an intermittent that's just playing nice at the moment.

One other cabling issue that won't be detected by just toning out the run and jumpers is the pigtail in the camera mount/housing base. Based on the results of your t-shooting at the switch, etc., it's unlikely there's a problem at the camera itself, though is still a possibility if excess wire is coiled up in the mounting base and pinched somewhere or creating awkward strain on the RJ45 under the cam. Just thinking out loud, now.

CBR will obviously be the most stable. You probably also want your key frame matching the fps unless intentionally only wanting one every two seconds. You may also still be able to get away with the higher bit rates if everything else checks out. It becomes trial and error for the best results once things stabilize otherwise.

Just wanted to post a quick update, the electricians little tester found an issue with one of the pairs of the CAT6 cable.

They reterminated and I can ping this thing for hours with no PL.

Finally!

Awesome glad to hear things were taking care of and it is working as expected. Thank you for the update as it may help others with same kind of issues while doing a search.
Be Safe.
