FTP problems with IP2M-841 1080p camera

I just purchased a new IP2M-841 1080p camera to supplement my existing IPM-721S Camera.

Long story short, I have a NAS that supports ftp via vsftpd. My 721S camera is able to push video to that NAS over ftp and this has worked for some time. I am so far unable to get the new 841 camera to successfully push video. Basically, what happens is, I configure the ftp settings and click the Test button, and I get an error message in broken English:

FTP server test error, user read only right.
On the NAS, the user I created (amcrest) has full permissions according to the documentation:

All user names are permitted to access the server via FTP and will have full read/write/delete access to the entire server, so use with caution.
If I trigger motion with the camera, folders are created on the NAS down to the timestamp, but no video files are created. So it seems that the camera is connecting, but not 100% successfully. Because empty folders are created, it suggests that the NAS ftp user (amcrest) has write permissions, confirming the NAS documentation and contradicting the weird error message above.

A check of the logs on the NAS server shows this when motion is triggered (S/N obscured):

A google search revealed a discussion about the duplicate slashes (//user) in the path as seen above, but it looks like the camera tried it both ways every time, so not sure that is the issue.

I've tried flashing the camera with the latest firmware as seen here:

For those with a similar problem, I just fixed this.

Originally, the path I supplied to the NAS was this:

/user/larry/Amcrest
Because of the double slashes in the log messages above, I just tried changing the path to this:

user/larry/Amcrest
When I ran the test button, I got a different error message:

FTP server test error, list right loss.
But videos are now being delivered to the NAS when motion is triggered!

This appears to be an issue that should eventually be fixed with a firmware update. C'mon, Amcrest. Test your code next time!
