This is such a joke. I have 6 bullet cameras and can't put ANY of the media on my NAS system at all. The camera specifications indicate it supports SMB but it does not. If it did, than the NAS function would work and let me copy files over.
Also I have the FTP bug, even on my PTZ camera. I've tried every scenario, no good. Tried VSFTPD and PROFTPD, none of them worked with Amcrest. Soon as you try an FTP client, logs in fine. Called support several times and all I was told it will be in our next firmware. False advertising on the box indicating you support FTP and SMB in the "conventional" way is not proper in the business world. I really feel like dumping all these cheap Amcrest cams and picking up some Vivotek or Hikvision dups. This is pathetic. And all support wants to do is rush you off the phone.

Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
I am also having a problem with FTP on my new IP2M-841 model cameras.
My remote FTP server is running ProFTPD and has a public IP address. I've tried reconfiguring the server with TLS, without TLS, and tried many other settings. None of my tests work with the Amcrest cameras, despite being able to connect using FileZilla every time. It does not seem to be a permissions issue.
Sometimes the Amcrest camera's attempt to access the FTP server is *partially* successful, but it always throws a badly spelled error message that does not give any clear indication of what the problem is. One a few occasions, I even get directories created on the remote FTP server, but have been unable to get snapshots to work in the same instances.
I will have to return these 5 camera devices if I can't get FTP to work. I *must* have off-site snapshot storage. This is pretty basic functionality, so I'm surprised by the weak implementation.

- dd-wrt version: DD-WRT v3.0-r30430M kongac
- Camera firmware version: 2.400.0000.15.R, build : 2016-06-15
With this setup, my amcrest IP4M-1025E camera can successfully upload the main video stream to the USB drive connected to my R7000.
dd-wrt is pretty straighforward to put onto this router and the community seems pretty active. Use google to find the latest image and any caveats.
I just did a factory reset on the router and used the netgear router GUI to upgrade to the dd-wrt image.
thanks for the tip. i was pulling my hairs out trying to setup ftp on a netgear r6400v1 with an amcrest ip3m-hx2. i'm a fan of kong builds and his dd-wrt builds have been rock solid.

I found FTP and storage on NFS devices from the camera to be problematic. However, it does stream RTSP good enough that, if you have a Linux PC with FFMPEG installed on it, you can get a realiable storage system going. Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
i swapped out the router to a linksys wrt1900acs v1 and ftp videos and snapshots immediately work flawlessly with a usb flash drive.
i'm only using the netgear r6400 v1 as a backup router and this is the only router i have that is still on a factory firmware. i have two other netgear, routers wndr3700v2 and wndr4300sw, and both have been flashed with openwrt and i never had any issue with ftp saving videos and snapshots to a usb flash drive. it appears netgear's factory firmware was the cause of the issue.
