I have a new IP3M-943W. When I make changes to the motion detection parameters and hit Save, the changes are not saved. Since the existing settings don't work well, the camera is practically useless. I was told this is a known issue and a firmware fix would be released shortly. That was a month ago. When is a fix expected to be released?
Also, how is it possible for such an obvious issue to get through what I hope is a well-defined, rigorous QA process?
Firmware Update for IP3M-943W
Re: Firmware Update for IP3M-943W
Hello markplewis ,
Have you tried doing a hard reset on this camera? You need to remove the 2 screws on the bottom cover and press and hold the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds. This will erase all the settings and you will have to set up the camera again on wifi etc. I believe this should fix the issue.

I've already done that once. As the camera is mounted outside, it requires a ladder to access the camera. I cannot continue to climb a ladder to fix a software problem that Amcrest should address via a firmware update. Is there an ETA for a fix? If not, tell me so and I will just return the camera. If there are other workarounds, please share them and I will try them. But again, I will not continually climb a ladder to fix this issue. That is not a viable solution and I'm surprised you think it is.

Hello markplewis,
I understand this is not an easy solution as the camera is mounted up. But unfortunately this is the only fix if you have already tried power recycling the camera. We also recommend hard resetting the camera once firmware update is done as it is required for syncing with the new changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.

Melvin,
Please answer my original question. Is a firmware update that will fix this bug planned? If so, when do you anticipate it will be released?
Thank you.

Hello markplewis,
I am not sure about that at the moment . I will keep the R&D team posted on this.

Re: Firmware Update for IP3M-943W
I just purchased an IP3M-943 and immediately bumped into this "changes not saved" problem. I'm generally tech savvy but new to security cams, and figured I was just making a bonehead mistake. But if this is a known problem, I have to echo markplewis's sentiment that it's a strong indication of fundamental incompetence that such a basic failure could make it through QA and be released to the public...and, if released, not be immediately fixed. This firmware was released in June, and we're almost into October, and no fix in sight...that's crazy. I'd chosen the Amcrest brand out of a sense that this would be a solid company, and not another fly-by-night operation; this sort of bug is what I might expect from the $50 camera but not the $130 camera.
Hmmm...in perusing other companies with similar products, Amcrest does seem to command some respect. Is this just a flaky industry, with everything rushed to market?

Re: Firmware Update for IP3M-943W
I bought an Amcrest IPM3-943B. It has the same problem you all are describing. Everything works fine, except motion detection. It will work for a few days, then forget all the settings. Now I can't get it to trigger at all. Scheduled recording and FTP works, but motion detect does not. I am getting very angry with Amcrest as this is not the first time I have purchased a camera from them that does not work out of the box. If they don't give me a viable solution fast, I will return the camera and they will lose a customer. I have 13 cameras on my network. Most are Foscams but I have been giving Amcrest a try and I'm batting 50/50 on working vs. non-working cameras right out of the box.

Re: Firmware Update for IP3M-943W
Watching thread, as I am experiencing the same issues. Saving motion settings doesn’t. I have done multiple power cycles, hard resets, and even installed a memory card, in case that had something to do with it..no luck... I will wait a short time to see if a firmware fix is available soon...then off to another vendor...
