Connecting to cameras through charter spectrum residential system

Post by DwayneB »

My apartment complex is forcing us to use their own provided network. Is some charter spectrum WiFi system. I attempted to connect the cameras to the new system. I connected the phone to the new WiFi, and followed the directions for setting up the cameras. I performed a factory reset of the cameras, then followed the instructions for connecting to the cameras to the WiFi. Everytime I tried it for me the was a problem connecting and I would need to connect directly to the router. I don't have direct access to the router at all.

Has anyone ever ran into this? I was thinking of the getting a WiFi to bridge, then connect the camera wired to the bridge. But again I don't know this will work. The IP address of the device all seem public, not in the private range.

In desperate need of suggestions. This system apparently has been installed in several apartment complexs so I can't be the first!

Hello DwayneB,

What matters here is the type of WIfi connection they have. The cameras can only connect to the 2.4 GHz network. So if you can set up an access point at home and hard wire it to the camera it could work.
