Can't login with any browser
So once again, I am unable to login to the application to view the cameras. I have tried IE, (the new Windows) Edge, and Chrome, all of them want to act like I never installed the plugins and keep telling me to download and install them. I am running Windows 10. I previously tried the Enable the NPAPI fix within Chrome before I upgraded to Windows 10, and now the option is no longer there. I am pretty frustrated with the amount of money I spent on these cameras and the amount of time and energy put into installing them when comparing them to the LACK OF WORKING PROPERLY every few months happens. I am just waiting for the Android app to not work again. Please help me make my home security system secure my home by ACTUALLY WORKING in a browser, please. Come on. Firefox works, but I don't want to have a completely different browser installed just because my cameras wont work over plugins that are no longer supported.

Yup, I have the same issue once again. This is really getting old.
Re: Can't login with any browser
Hello,
I apologize for the delay. Unfortunately Chrome has completely dropped NPAPI support. Our developers are still working on the new plugin and will have it out as soon as possible. I'm currently running Windows 10 with default Meduim-High security settings on Internet Explorer and am able to access our DVR with no issues. Are you running an anti virus that may be blocking the plugin? I would recommend uninstalling then reinstalling the plugin. Information on that process can be found here: https://amcrest.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ar ... -interface
Also, what device are you using?

Re: Can't login with any browser
I got the 720p system today and went about setting it up. In light of the immediate problems I've had, I'm beginning to regret this purchase, especially as I read more about all the headaches others are having, not to mention the recent and sudden total lack of Chrome support. I'm a fairly technical end user; setting this thing up should not pose too great a challenge, but already I cannot (1) update the firmware (I've used two different flash drives and with both I get "Upgrade Failed"), nor (2) access the web interface, due to trouble installing the plugin via IE. The plugin literally does not activate, though it does show up in C:\Program Files\webrec\WEB30\WebPlugin (and yes, each time I have been manually uninstalling everything in the webrec folder prior to retrying the installation). This is ridiculous. Based on the reviews I read on Amazon, I expected to encounter some difficulties, but I am surprised and terribly disappointed that I'm unable to upgrade the firmware (why should this be?) nor install the browser plugin. Amcrest, do you want me to return this product?

Hello,
Chrome has dropped NPAPI support and we are racing to get out new plugin out to resolve this issue. Do you have any antivirus running which could block the plugin? (Norton is one of the more infamous ones for this) Also are you using Windows 10? If so, make sure you're not using the new Edge browser as this is not supported yet. Most of our customers find Firefox to be the best browser for our DVR. What is the current build date on the DVR? You can check this under Main Menu>Info>System>Version? Please try a reboot on the DVR as well then updating from the flash drive again.

Not only can I not access with any browser, I picked up a nasty malware while trying to install the plug-in. Took hours to remove.
Very disappointed. I thought I had done enough homework. Will await any new solutions by Amcrest.

Which browsers on what operating system are not working?KDP wrote:Not only can I not access with any browser, I picked up a nasty malware while trying to install the plug-in. Took hours to remove.

No problems logging in via the web or via a local network to an Amcrest 720p HDCVI DVR using Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows 7 on multiple PC's or using Firefox on a Windows 10 PC. Chrome is a known issue because Google dropped Java support in Chrome as such the plug in no longer works. If one is having trouble with remote access then check to ensure the router's firewall isn't blocking access. I used the P2P option enabled, DDNS option enabled using QuickDDNS.com and UPnP enabled all within the DVR administration interface and didn't have to configure anything on the broadband router. Otherwise one has to manually configure the ports within the router to pass traffic to the DVR.
Are you indicating you got the malware from the plug-in installer? If using the "webplugin.exe", a VirusTotal.com check of that file shows that 50 out of 57 venders don't see a problem with the file. And most of the remaining 7 indicate a risk but a non malware type file. I've installed that plug-in file to several PC's without issue and it is not being flagged as malware by Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, McAfee, Norton, or Windows Defender

Re: Can't login with any browser
This is SOOOOOO lame. Can't get in using Chrome or Internet Explorer 10. I've installed the ActiveX plugin 3 times now and every time I get to the site, it tells me I need to download and install the plugin. Please. Make. This. Easy. Even this HTML editor box to post this looks like something from the 1990s. Really love the hardware, but can't stand, actually hate the software and the app. Just terrible. I have Belkin cameras and the hardware is inferior to Amcrest's, but at least it works and at least it's intuitive and they make it all very easy to use. And answer me this: I only want to be able to flip my view of my installed camera because I have it mounted upside down. Why, oh why, does this have to be done in the browser and not in the app? Because it can't be done in the app and I can't connect using any browser, I can't flip the view. Lame. Lame. Lame.
Re: Can't login with any browser
Please provide an update on Amcrest's development effort to replace the plugin and support Chrome again.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Can't login with any browser
I just connected my camera up again for another try now that my hair has re-grown a little from the last time I tried! I tried FF with no success at all, Edge without any success and IE with limited success (I could view the picture but it was permanently zoomed in so only partly visible). Chrome worked for me after I download and added the NaCL plugin and then ran it separately. All the controls and settings work (at the moment).
