Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
My camera (IP8M-2496) was working fine with Amcrest Cloud for a month - it suddenly dropped yesterday and now won't connect to the cloud at all. Shows up on my Amcrest ViewPro just fine. I have reset it, power cycled it.. multiple times but to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?
Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Welcome to the Forum
I am not sure I am going to guess that you changed the Encoding for the camera from 4mp to 8mp as it seems to be a 8mp however the Amcrest Cloud is good upto 4mp last I knew.. While I might be wrong about the ability to work up to 4mp might have changed.. The next thing if they do now support 8mp is that maybe it is an issue with account type? So I would double check and make sure that is the camera you were running if it was make sure if they have a 4mp cap to change your Encoding back to 4mp so it can get to the cloud..
I personally have not looked at the cloud support for cameras in long time so my info could be outdated...

Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Thanks! Yes, for the motion detection plan the cloud has a limit of 4mp - however I was able to view 8mp locally and the cloud would save 4mp vids automatically. It was working fine for a month and died. I've tried reducing the resolution, resets, etc.. something leads me to believe it's most likely their cloud provider (Camcloud.com) I'll wait until Monday to see what they say.
Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Okay.. so I signed up for a free account at Camcloud.com and added my Amcrest as a generic camera with the ip address and port, etc.. it works! Lol.
Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Sadly I can't say one way or another.. It is interesting really because Amcrest isn't using Camcloud as you mention however Amcrest and they do provide server by the same Backbone Provider..
Then if you look at what Camcloud says about who they support Amcrest is listed however you will not find any camera over 4mp infact I think they are all 2mp or 3mp in the list...
So your happy that you found something that works.. I can't say one way or another.. What I do know and Why I didn't like using Cloud for my camera(s) is because anything you change in your local setup you have to make that change in the Cloud setup and if you don't you will see in your LOG a NO NAME user changed your Encoding from what you had to something you don't want to have and that is because the Cloud will change the Encoding info on your camera to what ever it wants to be able to work...
So I am not sure if your trying to run a Ad for Camcloud but I can tell you that they don't offer anything better then what Amcrest already offers the End User.. I know they don't offer anything over 4mp and I would venture to bet that your Encoding has been switched to a lower Encoding because the service is a Plug an Play system for the Amcrest Cameras other option is a Port Forward base and it isn't as easy as just making a connection..
So now with Camcloud you now have them with your Password and user name for your camera, you now have them with the ability to see your cameras feed even if it is only after it has been uploaded to the server it is on there server..
For me there is to many reasons why I don't have Cloud 1st and most important is Database with your Password can be hacked, leaked and now your Live view is chilling on the Black Web yeah I will pass..
Just so you know Amcrest and Camcloud are not 1 and the same for Cloud services However they both lease Cloud from Amazon

Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
What? Just because I tried my camera with a cloud provider which works.. means I'm running an ad for them? Good grief. What a ridiculous assumption.Revo2Maxx wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 8:01 pm

I tried Camcloud a long time ago with my Hikvision camera..free plan, to see how it works. I didn't like the layout and features. I picked up the Amcrest camera a month ago from Amazon and loved it.. when I signed up for their cloud service the layout looked familiar. Camcloud provides white label service to many cameras I suppose.
I was troubleshooting my issue and decided to connect my camera to Camcloud (free account) since it wasn't working with Amcrest cloud. It works with Camcloud (but only when setup as a generic h.264 cam) So the conclusion I reached is that there's probably something wrong with Camcloud hosting Amcrest service or functionality and hopefully it's fixed soon.
Re: Amcrest Camera will not connect to Cloud
Not so!
Of course you can try your camera in any way you wish and that is not the issue.
As a new user in a first post talking about Amcrest competitors is close to breaking the forum rules.
