Amcrest 841 issues with Baby Monitor for IP Camera (iOS app)

Post by gnathic »

Hello,

I have the Baby Monitor for IP Camera (iOS app) (iPhone 6s). http://ipbabymonitor.com/

I have been using a Foscam C1 with the app fairly successfully, and I just bought a 2nd camera, an Amcrest IP2M 841

I am reasonably computer / internet literate, I know how to use user names, IP addresses, passwords, but for the life of me I can't seem to successfully set up the app with the Amcrest camera.

My process was to first follow the Amcrest instructions:

use the Amcrest View Lite app,
manage/ add device,
Name device
do the QR code scan
create username/PW
add to wireless network (with wireless password),
I am able to see video and control the camera's pan/tilt/etc with the amcrest app "Live View".

I closed the Amcrest app.

I then went to my Baby Monitor app.

Add New Camera
Fill in Camera name (same as I filled in for the amcrest view lite app device profile, I'm not sure if that matters)
used select button to select Amcrest as vendor
Selected model
Entered the ip address (verified by scanning my network), port 80
added username and password as I entered in the Amcrest View Lite app device configuration
For testing I disabled the foscam camera (since I've been having troubles getting this amcrest set up)

Phone is on wireless on the same network as the camera.
I get an error message, "Connection to camera "Amcrest1" has been lost" notice every 15 seconds or so
no ambient audio signal
Video is not active
I can, however, use the mic button on the app and hear audio from the camera
I can also pan, tilt, and even use the 3D motion feature in the app to control the camera. Still no video
I can even set presets.

Could you help me figure out how to get audio and video going for this app? I can't figure out if it's the app (even though it works with my Foscam camera), or the Amcrest camera (even though it appears to work fine with the Amcrest View Lite app.

Thank you!

I have successfully setup Amcrest with this app but only on local network. I cannot get this to work from outside my local network no matter what I do. I have 5 foscam cameras that I have set up port forwarding and they work well. I have set up port forwarding for this camera as well but the app fails to connect. I think the port forwarding is set up correctly because I can log in to the camera from outside using simple browser. Can anyone help with this issue?

Hello gcube ,

Not sure about this third party app but Amcrest cameras uses the TCP port for streaming video so make sure you have the TCP port forwarded and added to the app. Another app which can accommodate Foscam and Amcrest cameras together is the LIve Cams Pro (For IPhone). Please check the video tutorial below.

I'm bumping this topic in hopes that someone has a guide on how to setup amcrest successfully with baby monitor app for iPhone. I have foscam 8918, C1 and R2 all successfully working (port forwarded and all). Baby Monitor states it works with amcrest but I can't seem to get it to work. I have set up forwarding for the HTTP port and I can login in to Amcrest from outside the network through browser but not the app. Any help. I already paid for the baby monitor app and I love it but it would be nice to not have to migrate to another app.
