I installed an Amcrest AD410 doorbell camera in December 2023. I have an Amcrest NVR plus two Android Pixel phones which are connected using the Amcrest Smart Home Android App. Everything worked great for months.
Within the last week or so the Android app on both phones has been having issues. The live view won't work and says the device is not connected. However the following still works:
1. I get motion push notifications on my phone but I can't play the videos
2. The NVR still shows live video stream.
These two features above tell me the doorbell is still connected to Wifi and that it's the app that is having a problem.
I then went through the following:
1. restarted phone
2. reinstalled Smart Home Android app
3. reset doorbell by pressing the reset button on the back, add a new device, scanned the QR code on the back of the device and after seeing 'Connection Successful' once I connected to the device's network I see a busy indicator for several seconds and then I see a 'close app' or 'wait for app' modal. If I wait for app nothing happens.
4. I tried 3 above a few more times and received the same result.
What should I do?
Amcrest Smart Home Android App sudden issues
Re: Amcrest Smart Home Android App sudden issues
Hello and Welcome to the Forum,
Sounds like the App update might not have worked well for the Pixel phones and personally might want to do a Support Ticket. Make sure that you do it for Smart Home. However seeing you are having issues with your Amcrest NVR, Not sure how that is related seeing the Smart Home app and the App the NVR work on is a different app. Might need to setup a Ticket for both formats.
Start you off with Smart home ticket area.

Re: Amcrest Smart Home Android App sudden issues
I'm not having issues with my Amcrest NVR.
After talking with tech support I finally was able to reconnect the doorbell and see a live feed. But it was a very clunky process which involved:
- hard reset a few times (i.e. pressing the reset button on the back of the device until it said something about resetting)
- while adding the device I received the wait or close app modal (an indication that the app was taking a while or hanging) probably close to 20 times. Each time I quickly pressed the wait button to dismiss the modal. Eventually I made it through all the setup prompts.
I wonder when others will start to see the same issue with the android app.

Re: Amcrest Smart Home Android App sudden issues
I experienced the same issues as you a few weeks ago, but I’m on an iPhone, so not even an app issue. I had a doorbell cam and 3 indoor cams. All of them went offline the same exact time, but my network showed they had an IP address and connected. I rebooted my modem, wireless access point, rebooted all the cameras and reinstalled the app to no avail. So, I factory reset every single camera and then I was able to see some one by one. I ended up factory resetting them one last time and got new cameras with a different manufacturer during Amazon Prime day, although they don’t have the greatest pan view, it’s more reliable than dealing with Amcrest constantly going offline, which happens more often than not now. This is the first time all of them did.
