AD110 - Someone Else is Answering Call

Post by BlueHouse »

I did a search, but I could not see a solution to my problem.
I have the Amcrest Smart Home app on my Samsung tablet. I have the Doorbell on the app.
I shared the doorbell to my phone. The Smart Home App on my phone is registered with Amcrest with a different email account.
For one day everything worked fine. Then someone pressed the doorbell and it did not ring. The motion alerts stopped on both tablet and phone and this is how it is right now.
Not a peep from the doorbell despite multiple resets. I even upgraded the transformer to 24v.
I also notice that I can listen but I cannot talk on the app. It says "someone else is answering the call."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app many times. I have no other apps on either my phone or tablet that could interfere.
I do have the doorbell connected to Blue Iris.
Any suggestions sure would be appreciated.
Colin.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum

First I hope your not using a 24vac on a doorbell and only the camera.. Next to be honest with testing on a 24vac 30va Transformer I have found that it will short out the Amcrest Chime Kit while it will still work to protect your Transformer it will no longer work at 16vac and with connection to a Doorbell... THe Doorbell will forever CHIME...

So if this was me working with what you have this is what I would do.. First Remove the Doorbell camera from the 24vac Transformer and install a 16vac Transformer

Then I would Load the Camera on the New Transformer and after the system has come online I would then wait for about 1 Minute to let the system Settle!

Then I would go to the Camera and remove the Face Plate and Press and HOld the Reset button until the camera Resets this can take 10 to 30 seconds... While it was Resetting I would open app and Remove the doorbell from the app.. Once the Doorbell camera shows signs that it has reset I would then Add it to the APP.. You will need to Press the button on the side to turn on The stand alone wifi and make sure your phone is connected to your wifi before you start.. Once you have it connected and working on your Wifi I would monitor your system and make sure you only have access to the camera and no others that you didn't setup to have access...

That is what I would do
Be Safe.

Okay, this interesting problem has been solved.
We have a large area and have three computers running three copies of Blue Iris.
What we figured is that with the audio being activated when we added the doorbell to BI we might have had too many connections to the doorbell, causing a problem with the audio channel..
We were correct. There has been no problem since we disabled the doorbell audio on all three computers running Blue Iris.
Hopefully this is of interest to others.

3 copies of BI all going to a Doorbell? I would Tread gently on these waters.. Anyone trying to make adjustments because they don't like the color or look of the current day could Brick the Camera.. I would never have more then 1 Admin on any of my Cameras or Systems because in the event something blows up I have no one but my Self to blame.. Unless I let me son use my account to adjust something lol... Learned my lesson the first time... Only full access they have to any of the cameras is their own camera that is setup for them to use as they wish even if it is just to blow it up lol...
Be Safe.

I had the exact same symptoms where if the camera was enabled on Blue Iris, I could get video and sound, but the chime would not work, the talk back feature would not work, and motion would not work. If the camera was disabled on Blue Iris, everything worked fine. After reading this and playing around a bit, I have found that if I go into the video setup in Blue Iris (where you enter the IP address and such) and [UNCHECK] Setup RTSP back-channel for talk support (PCM-U format) . That did the trick. Puzzled me for weeks  ! Hope it helps someone. Thanks.
