SMTP Password field too shot

Post by peterk2003 »

I am trying to use AWS SES to send alerts. There system generates very long password(40-50 char long) that are not changeable. The SMTP password field appears to be to small to accept the password.

Please fix

Looking at my email configuration page, the password field seems to be limited to 30 characters. The problem you've come across goes back many years and has been raised by users of other makes of device but the common factor is Amazon.

I have seen one discussion where the limitation was, as appears to be the case here, in the GUI and not the saved configuration file. Perhaps the answer for you might be to complete the configuration and in the password field input something easy to find like "xzxzxzxzxzxzxzx". Then search through the ini file and replace that string with the correct full password.

Perhaps you could set up your NVR/camera to send the emails to another email service that would just forward the emails to AWS SES.
