Ive notice this as ive tried to hook up 1 wire each of The caT 5 instead of using the recommended twisted pair per connection.and also with to many splices in the wire with 3 different types of wiress . So its possibly to many breaks in the line that was from being spliced and all the other above ive mentioned is in my case and could be in yours and the others on here. Wire can be bad if its a prefactory made type. Also i have tested the voltage. And my 12v dc adapter reads at the camera end 18v but at the male plug on the adapter at the same location as the dvr reads 12v. So im guessing this is why when people got replacements they still have the same issue

Also could be a bad power adapter or 4way splitter

I was just having this issue and am curious if people having this issue are using extension cables for power? I had the issue when using a power extension cable, but not when I connected the power directly to the camera. It is probably due to power drop from the extra cable. ( By power extension cable, I mean a cable which extends the barrel connector itself (female on one end, male on the other). Not a 110v extension cable. Such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-Universa ... 07KFPYPRZ/ )

Wire gauge is important. The 30ft Amcrest extension does not say what wire gauge it is, but should work if your camera is in their list. The camera has a specification of what maximum wattage is required. The power supply will say how many amps it is. Watts= volts x amps. See this to determine what the voltage drop is over the length.

My IPM-723 lost IR after a year of operation. I bought a cheap pair of 12v IR illuminators . Didn't want 2 but it was cheaper to get 2 then one. This actually worked out pretty good as I discovered I was no longer getting constant alarms from insects attracted to the built in IR of the camera. Sometimes it looked like heavy snow storm due to the insects. I have two critter cams facing a greenbelt area. Having the IR off at the camera and on at the separate IR illuminator works out nicely. I did notice that the foxes, raccoons and skunks stayed away for a few days after I put up the illuminators. I assume they can see IR and were wary about the change in their environment.
